She used the swastika and astroturf terms to discredit the opposition. This is the oldest trick in the book which obviously works wonders on people who jump to illogical conclusions.

That would be the first thing in her entire life she hasn't lied about... Nancy Pelosi is an idiot with a big mouth..

Well, here I was, trying to get a link on an assault in a town hall meeting about health care reform when I found this picture from protesters in Fort Collins, Colorado...

It seems, members of ATS, that Nancy Pelosi was not lying about the swastika remark...

I'll direct to you the video in which she remarked on it...

Here is the link to the full article in which I found this.

Health Care Reform

You said....

I would never bash anyone on who they support or don't support,

Then

Unlike the rest of the gas bags on here who pretend they're non-partisan or Independent, I can say that I support a party.

I thought you didnt agree with the name calling and personal attacks on people just because they believe different than you? That doesnt sound very objective.....

Its clear how she presented it, omission of facts in a statement to bring a cross a certain innuendo, is a tactic used by politicians all the time. It allows for plausible deniability. I know you know this, and I KNOW you are aware of what she did.

I dont care if you have a certain party, i dont even care you dont believe that im a libertarian......HOWEVER I do believe that it doesnt matter if you are affiliated with a party or NOT , you should be objective in your research and the way you approach things. Be honest for the sake of honesty and integrity, not blind for the sake of your PARTY. What is more important to you?

Shouldnt it be more important to be forthcoming about things that are wrong then, deny or deflect just to tow a party line?

What the hell people, have we lost our marbles? Have we lost our sense of self worth? Since when is the party more important than the singular persons that represent it?

Wheres our INTEGRITY

So what your saying is she purposely miss lead the public into thinking there were Nazis at the town hall meetings oh thats just so much better! Well she didn't lie but she tried to deceive people not really seeing a difference here are you?

PS just though id add its a sad state of affairs when polisi is in such denial that she believes this is some conspiracy of right wing groups. This is people who are concerned and wont go away until they feel there being heard.

[edit on 8/11/09 by dragonridr]

70% of americans want health care fixed...out of 300 million...that's 210 million. but all the media shows is a few thousand right wingers yelling and screaming about "TAKE BACK AMERICA"... WE DON'T WANT TO BE THE NEXT RUSSIA...STOP OBAMA FROM KILLING OLD PEOPLE...this is shown day after day after day....yeah...left wing media...RIGHTTTT!!!!!!

when will they start showing all the people that have lost everything from insurance companies refusing to pay on claims, or premiums jacked up 400% in 10 years, or being refused health insurance by ANY company.

no...i guess you can't show that, because people might hear it...and they wouldn't be able to hear "WE ARE BECOMING A SOCIALIST NATION" screamed out day after day after day.

Well, no she wasn't a liar. But she was calling people nazis.. Which is the important issue here. Or maybe its not.

Ha, nice try.
There is a huge difference between a swastika and an anti-swastika sign.

Come on.

We're all smart enough to see that she made a statement that was intended to be misleading and inflammatory. It worked.

There's no benefit to arguing semantics.

She is playing the game and everybody on both sides who got up in arms over it did exactly what she wanted.

Stop giving these people more power than they really have.

For those of you on here who called her crazy and lying should remember the number one rule on ATS:

DENY IGNORANCE.

I would never bash anyone on who they support or don't support, but many people on here, not all, but many, didn't even wait for the evidence to come out to see if she was right or wrong

Certain news agencies (Some of you call them the "true news sources" that stray from MSM) automatically went off on her...

It's really a sad day in ATS history.

People are contextualizing all of this through their fears. Which has the negative effect of distracting all of us from the bigger conspiracies afoot.

If Nancy Pelosi told me the sky was blue, I'd have to redefine my understanding of what blue was.

I still don't bash people on who they support, Man, but I don't like it that if some of us are with a party (Democrats for me), we're just puppets, then of the MSM and are not able to see the picture.

It's not true, but disinformation on here is rampant.

So much a lot of people believe it.

Even if she did, she still was telling the truth.

Which was the whole point of this thread.

Not of what she meant on the comment, but the fact that there was a swastika at the town hall meeting.

And from what I'm reading now on ATS, there was a guy with a gun (legal, though) at a town hall meeting...

It seems to me like both parties seem to be really paranoid about the other...

She thinks all of the protesters have been given signs and put up to it by her opposition? I assume that's what she means by calling it "astroturf" rather than a real grassroots deal.

Wow... our politicians are becoming the real conspiracy theorists!

Piglosi is a stinking liar. Everyone has their off days, and this particular day, she had hers, and told the truth! Only problem was she ignored the meaning of the symbols, that they were calling HER a Natzi. Or at least the law she is trying to dump on us. If it looks like crap, and smells like crap, IT'S CRAP! ANYTHING that shrew favors, I oppose out of principle.

Is that a good thing to do in life? To just oppose something because the person that you hate supports something?

Pelosi is slime.

Now if she says slime was involved, she'd be right.

There were swastikas there. To indicate what people thought of her fascist pals and her fascist plan.

Really? You think that comparing them to the the perpetrators of the systematic death of over 6 million people is fair?

If you do it's obvious your more interested in causing chaos rather than debating how to solve problems.

You see in order to solve any problem you have to have civil discourse. And you can't have civil discourse when you use hyperbolic iconography.

It has more to do with her ego than anything else.Nancy Polosi believes she knows what is best for the country and people couldn't have a different opinion than hers because shes right. So if that is the case than this is political and these people are being put up to it. I might add this was a common practice used by democrats bus people in to events to make republicans look bad like they did for the RNC. What she fails to realize this is scared people taking time out from there lives to try to be heard.

If the democrats don't start addressing these people they'll be making a grave mistake. Many of these people have never been involved in politics in there lives but i can guarantee they will be during the mid term elections. And even a minority group as polls claim anyway not so sure about that though can have a massive effect on elections beyond just there vote. It will be interesting to see if the democrats maintain there majority in the house I'm guessing they wont.

Same difference.
Though that is indeed vandalism it is still the same thing as the pic from post one, the protestors are calling our leaders nazi's.

Unless of course it was ACORN that panted that swastika just to stir things up a bit more.
