There are so many great threads on ATS. I'd only like to take a few minutes to present the FISHY email that I received from Team Obama... Keep reading it gets better...

I'm sure that you'll get a fishy smell no matter where you are reading this...

Subject: Beating the scare tactics
Friend --

Members of Congress have been home for just a few days, and they're already facing increased pressure from insurance companies, special interests, and partisan attack organizations that are spending millions to block health insurance reform.

These groups are using scare tactics and spreading smears about the President's plan for reform, trying to incite constituents into lashing out at their representatives and disrupting their events.

The goal of these disruptions is for a few people to get a lot of media attention and hijack the entire public discourse. If they succeed, all Americans -- Democrats, Republicans, and Independents -- will continue to struggle under the broken status quo.

It's up to us to show Congress that those loudly opposing reform are a tiny minority being stirred up by special interests, and that a huge majority strongly supports enacting real health insurance reform in 2009.

Your representative, XXXXXXXX, has been working to move us towards reform. Can you call the local office in XXXXXXXX? Let the person who answers know that you're a constituent. Then tell them: "Thank you for your work so far. I'm counting on you to keep working for real health insurance reform until it's passed in 2009. If you stand up for health insurance reform, voters like me will stand up for you."

According to our records, you live in XXXXXXXX congressional district. Please call:

Rep. XXXXXXXX at xxx-xxx-xxxx.

Once you've made your call, click here to report it.

Calling should only take a few minutes, but it's a huge help. These local offices serve as the main connection between a member of Congress and voters in the district. And with representatives home on recess, the staff there are in daily contact with your member, keeping them updated on how many calls they receive that are for or against reform.

Once you've called, please tell us. Knowing how many calls are coming in from all around the country will help us better plan our campaign -- and help us show that the American people overwhelmingly want health insurance reform this year. Let us know you called:

So, if this doesn't stink like what they are asking for... They are calling dissenters the tiny minority.

When they clearly should have investigated & arrested any REAL death threats... They didn't. Why, because it was bogus.

They only claimed one, which didn't turn out to be a real threat at all. Yet, it made headlines... Talk about being disruptive... Like screaming FIRE in a crowded theater because someone lit a cigarette outside. Lying Congressional Style!

Anyhow, Here's a smoking gun email of disinformation. Forward it to your white house if you like...

You too can sign up to receive Obama emails. Use your gray matter. I don't want to violate T&C.

Additionally: I received this email a few days ago but hesitated in posting it because I waited to see someone else post it. I understand that some will consider this important. Sign up for emails notices from them to stay informed. Create a junk email acct. though.

Of course, that e-mail couldn't *POSSIBLY* be a fake, because we all know that whatever we find on the Internet is the gospel truth.

I would like to tell you about my problem. See, I've got millions of dollars stuck in a bank in an African country that I need help getting out of the country. If you give me your bank info, I'll share this money with you - 40% for you. Deal?

So an email from a lobbyist for big pharma sends out an email instructing people how to disrupt town hall meetings in order to prevent any actual discussion of the proposed bill and then washington releases and email explaining how to counter that and the big fishy conspiracy here is.....?

I don't need to validate it. I get these all the time from Organize America or whatever they are ... I was looking for a polling place last election using Google and they found this website that asked for zip code and they'd show me the light! Well, I found my polling place and I deliberately signed up for the news letter thinking nothing of it since I created the email address just for Obamatron stuff.

Friend --

This is the moment our movement was built for.

For one month, the fight for health insurance reform leaves the backrooms of Washington, D.C., and returns to communities across America. Throughout August, members of Congress are back home, where the hands they shake and the voices they hear will not belong to lobbyists, but to people like you.

Home is where we're strongest. We didn't win last year's election together at a committee hearing in D.C. We won it on the doorsteps and the phone lines, at the softball games and the town meetings, and in every part of this great country where people gather to talk about what matters most. And if you're willing to step up once again, that's exactly where we're going to win this historic campaign for the guaranteed, affordable health insurance that every American deserves.

There are those who profit from the status quo, or see this debate as a political game, and they will stop at nothing to block reform. They are filling the airwaves and the internet with outrageous falsehoods to scare people into opposing change. And some people, not surprisingly, are getting pretty nervous. So we've got to get out there, fight lies with truth, and set the record straight.

That's why Organizing for America is putting together thousands of events this month where you can reach out to neighbors, show your support, and make certain your members of Congress know that you're counting on them to act.

But these canvasses, town halls, and gatherings only make a difference if you turn up to knock on doors, share your views, and show your support. So here's what I need from you:

Can you commit to join at least one event in your community this month?

I don't have time to make this up... just showing you what's going on if you don't subscribe.

There was another that you may have heard about in MSM soliciting $1 a day donation until healthcare reform is passed... OMG never seen begging in that fashion before...

Aha I found it...

In fact, over the weekend, we surpassed our big goal of 1 million people taking action for health insurance reform. And with your help, we'll keep growing and prove that our opponents' strategy of "delay, delay, delay" simply won't work.

So I want to ask you for something unusual: Can you chip in $1 each day until we pass real health insurance reform? A huge response will show the insurance companies and their allies in Congress that their delay tactics will only make our movement stronger.
and that the grassroots pressure on them will increase -- they'll be far less willing to keep slowing down the process.

Can you help? Please donate $1 per day until we pass real health insurance reform:

Thank you,

Mitch Stewart

LOL they call their organization 'grassroots' ... These people are unreal.

Sorry about the long quotes... I'm proving a point about content that spews from the mailings that they send often.

I've received 56 in the last the last 10 months. Not too bad... and the acct. hasn't seen ANY junkmail... I applaud that they haven't sold the email list to advertisers... Not Yet. I'll trust them until I get ShamWow advertisements.

EDIT to remove the 'donate' link

I guess I'll need to spell it out for some people that happen by to read this...

They don't say anything about the HealthCare reform itself in their emails...

All they do is state how to retaliate and disrupt those that are opposed to the congressional legislation.

Read between the lines... They are instigating... say it out loud with me...

They are instigating... They aren't informing.

Go back and reread... I'll post more emails from them in their entirety upon request.

Expose and inform...

It sure sounds real to me. Classic Orwellian doublespeak IMO. Years ago when I was trying to fight against the religious right I did the same thing - I got on everyone's mailing list because A) It cost them money and B) you could find out what they were up to. Just reverse the message and you know the truth. Sad part is we pay for them to lie to us - how *ed up is that?
