They reported this on belgian television a few weeks ago.

It must be a spectacular view when all of them start flying.

It's really cool to have one smack into you while riding a motorcycle (not the cicada, you're on the bike!).

I have a theory that cicadas are perfect pruners for the forests. They don't eat anything once they reach adult stage, however, they lay eggs near the ends of branches, the branch ends then die, and fall to the ground. You'll probably notice the dead ends about a month or so after the hubbub is over..

One crawled up my leg a few days ago. I didn't even know. I saw it and.....freaked out. I hate ugly bugs like Indy hates spiders.

You guys are weak. These bugs are harmless. I remember picking their molts off trees when I was a youngin'. I always enjoyed listening to the noise they made.

Take a look at the transformation into adulthood.
