Glenn Beck's Obama "Racist" Comments Cost Him Advertisers

The clip is obviously trimmed for sensationalism (ie selectively edited). How can people ask "Why would he say such things?" When from the editing you can tell that he was explaining why he reached his conclusions, but they were edited out, to make it look like he was being the racist rather than Obama being the racist.

Okee Dokee. the VERY NEXT DAY, Mr Beck continued the charge on his Radio Show.

This audio clip seems to be unedited to allay your fears. If you'll kindly listen, you'll hear his reasoning.

www.mofopolitics.com...

Loosely transcribed:

"I deem him a racist based on...really on his own standard of racism, the standard of the left."

Now that is some DEEP.....................logic.

Seems like a weak basis to me.

this article just shows how hypocritical everyone is.

If someone doesnt want to vote for obama, they are racist.
If someone questions obama, they are racist
if someone mentions obama in a negative light, they are racist

i guess a majority of african americans voted for obama because of his views right?

I used to watch Glenn Beck also. In the end, I found that every time that I watched him I was either depressed or paranoid. I convinced my wife that we should stock pile canned goods and looked into getting a handgun and shotgun for home security. I'm not saying that was a wrong thing to do, but it seemed that every time I watched it was something else that I had to worry about.

It seems to me, after watching Glenn for over two years, that his approach became more alienating and more paranoid oriented. He presents "facts" which cannot be substantiated. What matters about his leaving CNN is that of the three; FOX, CNN, MSNBC, the only network which has attempted to offer some balance has been CNN.

I am not saying CNN is a great network, only a little more balanced than the other two. As Glen has become more crazed, his views changed politically into an attack upon the current administration. Therefore, he fits perfectly with FOX. I wonder when he will go far enough to alienate FOX...nah.

Your statement said:

To answer: No, No, and No!

We have a unique situation here and some people are handling it well and others are either struggling with issues or are mobilizing against such an idea of having an African American or Black President.

Now..again, no, no and no to your three statements/questions, but you knew that when you posted them.

In an attempt to keep his name in the headlines, much like Rush L., Glen has made a conscious effort to be shocking and controversial. He is pure entertainment for those fear mongers and some other fringe groups like; Racists, Hypocrites, Bigots, White Supremacists, Neo-Nazis, Crazed Evangelicals, and those who don't even know why they want to hate the President.

Me, I just want to watch and hope that he succeeds for the country's sake and not because of any other political or racial reasons.

The only person in cable news with higher ratings than Glenn Beck is Bill O'Reilly...no one wants to watch something predictable, that's why Bill O'Reilly, Glenn Beck, Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann make as much money as they do...they all say outrageous stuff and it helps ratings. It's all about ad dollars, these companies that are boycotting will just be replaced with another advertiser, especially when you get such high ratings. If someone on another network (maybe even Keith Olbermann) had said something like that, he probably would have gotten the boot...but Beck gets 3 or 4 times more viewers than Olbermann, I think it's close to 6 million a show...which is astoundingly high, especially for a 5PM EST time slot.

Wait, what? I oppose Obama and anything I see a government expansion...and you're saying it's because I have issues with us having a black President? I think you just proved what the person you quoted was trying to say...just because you don't agree with the president (who just so happens to be 1/2 black) then you have racist tendencies. That's total bull#. Saying such a thing makes you NO better than Glenn Beck.

You say all of that...yet you are surfing and posting on a CONSPIRACY oriented website, with most "facts" not being true. Go read the "Global Meltdown" section, or the "9/11 Conspiracy" section...that makes you less paranoid than something Glenn Beck says...yeah right. Glenn Beck doesn't say that people dressed in black suites are going to come get you in the middle of the night, or that the government is going to declare martial law...the irony in some of these posts (not just yours) is hysterical.

I think Obama likes white people to exactly the same extent that George Bush likes black people.

There, can we all focus on more important things now?

****** UPDATE #2 ***********

Men's Warehouse has pulled Advertising from Glenn Beck's Shows
and purportedly State Farm Insurance. That is 7 thus far.

In the spirit of the new civility and decorum that is permeating the boards,
I'll skip any product mention that seem like a good fit.

I'll forego any further updates regarding advertisers until his show is yanked.

An old song seems apropos:

YouTube Link

Let's dance.

I think it's pretty simple to understand.

The last tiny little part of his brain still capable of rational thought finally gave up and moved out.

In other words, don't spout the most moronic crap that makes it to the front of your brain, without expecting to sound equally moronic, causing ad execs to say, "Hmmm... are we really supporting this lunatic?"

I seem to recall it wasn't so long ago that far-right pundits (and I think even Bush and his boys) said anyone who opposed the war 'hated the troops' (and America), and/or was a traitor; anyone who opposed Bush hated America and was a traitor...

So, uh, LF - which new America are you referring to?

There is a difference in uniting a country by telling people not to knock the troops because they are doing their job and what is going on in the White House.

I think he, Obama, is not racist but he is not smart in what he says without a teleprompter. If a white president said that a black cop acted stupidly during an arrest, the entire liberal media and officials would be up in arms as well as conservative media for calling the president an ignorant idiot.

Beck does what he does to inform and put on a show...that is what it is..a show. Kind of like the Daily Show but with a little more conservative flair and less Jewish jokes unless Stein is on.

Hilarious comparison of the two.

Glenn Beck airs on FOX NEWS CHANNEL.
John Stewart airs on COMEDY CENTRAL.

Do you see any contradiction?

One is a pretend news show airing on a Comedy channel,
the other is an unintentional comedy show airing on a News channel.

Do you understand the concept of parody? Or in this case parity?

It's kinda funny to me. I know a lot of people and about all of them say racist things sometimes. White, black, Mexican, Chinese. Doesn't matter.

Yet no one is racist, and if anyone says anything even tinged with it in public, everyone is quick to point and shout HE'S A RACIST.

I suspect it might be like something else....everyone does it at least sometime or they lie about it.

It just seems kinda funny to me. It seems like... if you are so bad a racist you let it show in public, you can't even keep it hidden, THEN you are DEFINITELY a racist.

Please speak your opinion...It's the American way...but own your words and don't expect to be PAID for saying dumb offensive things.

See Glenn Beck gets PAID for his opinions...it's his job. So if he says really stupid and offensive things then, yes his advertisers will stop paying for the show.

It's a business. ....It's not about "political correctness or freedom of speech.

lol. . . you guys are HELL-arious!

Beck GETS HUGE RATINGS.
Advertisers can drop all they want, there will be more advertisers happy to pay to get the viewership he pulls in.

He will NOT be fired for losing advertisers. That is the ONE prediction on this site that will be proven true.
