After reading just part of the crazed Christian rights comments to this post I have to agree they are all idiots.

Before this century I could afford to go to the Doctor and the hospital. My insurance company covered enough of the cost that it was nearly affordable, not quite but enough that I could take care of my health.

I cant anymore. I have health insurance and pay out my butt for it but I cant afford to go to the Doctor of the ER. My blood pressure is 170/100, I am a Firefighter/EMT and I cant afford it.

I have to wait until I have an stroke.

I dont know what to say...these insurance companies have enough money to manipulate the media and these goobers lap it up.

I just cant believe it. I thought for sure when we finally got someone as POTUS that was not against the people and only for the corporations and banks we would have decent healthcare that I can maybe live past retirement and not wear my body out from my blood pressure and die too young.

These right wing selfish stupid pigs are not going to let that happen though.

Next time you right wingers dial 911 to have Fire/Rescue save your life think of me, I am dieing from high blood pressure because my insurance wont pay enough for me to take care of my family and have healthcare at the same time.

This is why reading is fundamental. If Americans would read more for themselves, instead waiting for someone to explain it (or manipulate them), they would understand everyone benefits from it. Especially the fat insurance companies, they will have the opportunity to thrive as well. No - our way of life is not threatened at all.
Fortunately (or unfortunately) there is no indication of socialism or Universal Health Care offered by other countries.
True more studies are needed, but who else is getting off their collective asses to get it done.
I have yet hear or see any other proposals from those opposing.

Look at the Canada health care plan, its a freeking joke. Most people from Canada come to the United States to get proper health care.......Now were gonna switch to a health care plan like Canada.......This is going to kill alot people, young and old alike

Ridiculous. I have family in Canada and many friends. While the system is not wonderful, it is very good and a safety net for millions. A majority of Canadians feel extremely lucky of their program, especially when looking to the south.

Why I'm tired of Idiots who think the government is the solution to health reform

If I do a 1 hour patient trasnport in the chopter, I have to document for a minimum of 5-6 hours. Why? Cause the hospital is afraid they will be sued. SO I spend more time on paperwork than on patient care. And this crap about electronic records.
it takes longer to do than paper

I am calling you out on this one. No way do you have to put that much info into your laptop. It takes about a half hour to an hour per patient transport. You are exaggerating my friend. I have been on lifeflight and it does not take that long to fill out the paperwork.

No way. Why did you exaggerate like that?

Get government out of health care, period. Market based regulations exist and are far more effective in their practice and economically. Government regulation drives up costs by reducing market competition through subsidies to the big pharmaceutical companies. Frivilous malpractice lawsuits force doctors to practice defensive medicine to cover their asses. And who can blame them. Anything the government touches, is #ed. Plain and simple.

Oh and those 'idiots' are mad because they are basically being told to bend over and take it 'or else.' Do you know the penalties in this bill for not enrolling?

When you look at the facts, the right wing conservatives are much more generous with their money, time and blood.

www.realclearpolitics.com...

-- Although liberal families' incomes average 6 percent higher than those of conservative families, conservative-headed households give, on average, 30 percent more to charity than the average liberal-headed household ($1,600 per year vs. $1,227).

-- Conservatives also donate more time and give more blood.

-- People who reject the idea that "government has a responsibility to reduce income inequality" give an average of four times more than people who accept that proposition.

It seems hypocritical to throw the empathy card at conservatives.

dont tell me about it. Tell the Tort lawyers that certain unions (like maybe the firefighters) have on retention to win outlandish settlements of millions of $ against insurance companies, so that in turn the lawyers can take their 40% right off the top.

See, here's how it works. People blame insurers. Insurers blame lawyers. Lawyers blame doctors and healthcare providers. doctors and healthcare providers blame pharmacuetical companies. pharmacuetical companies blame people who want something for nothing.

a great big circle jerk. Meanwhile Congress and the Administration take clear advantage of all this to enact legislation designed solely for the purpose of fattening their own wallets, while they of course are exempt from their own ineptitude and ridiculous intervention efforts.

clear as mud.

In the past I've seen on this forum many people who criticize the insurance companies and the drug companies, as part and parcel of the NWO. The insurance companies are among the wealthiest corporations in America, and the drug companies are not far behind. Yet today, the people who oppose health care reform are de facto defenders of these same corporations that they had so criticized. The corporations that are hiding the cure for cancer, the corporations that are putting your health at risk with their poisonous vaccines. Look in the mirror. Why are you now in bed with your enemies?

and of course, you have an absolute, irrefuteable source for this statement, correct?

I will wait to see it.

There's someone that posted earlier they only pay $19.17 a month for full coverage, and he says he earned it. Now get off your bum and earn your affordable healthcare.

I'm joking of course...but, I'm sorry about your circumstances. I've heard your story over and over again. It's sad that some people are so upset over doing anything. I know the bill sucks. It certainly doesn't need to be rushed through. But, all the blind opposition to doing nothing at all is very selfish.

Honestly, that plan is the type of thinking we need. There are ways to fund something by undoing something else. Ron Paul used to say that a lot.

see, I think right there is part of this massive misunderstanding that started right in the OP's topic post. I am a conservative and I dont oppose something being done to help the situation which isn't working as well as it could be. But what I (and I think others here like me) want is not to RAM and PUSH and HURRY this thing through without proper exploration of the contents, and explanation of what will happen, and without hearing from THE PEOPLE as a whole. When everyone has a chance to give input to congressional leaders that will genuinely listend and do what the people en masse want, then we will have a system that could once again be the envy of the world. But forcing something upon us that no one even knows whats in it, is ludicrous at best, and socialistic at worst.

You can't afford your insurance but have it anyway?
Wait til you get to pay taxes on those insurance premiums you are paying and then get even worse coverage than you have now.

I agree with you. That should be the focus of the discussion entirely. Not all this bickering back and forth calling each other names. Jesus had a great saying when SHTF "Be Still and feel the power of GOD" When you are still, there is no arguing. People can talk. People can say what they need then be still again. This world is chaotic because people misunderstand each other. I certainly feed into it as well. How many fights have I seen start between two people who just won't shut up and be still.

I agree. The plan uses some of the unused financial bailout money to provide funding, without adding to the deficit, to those without health insurance and those unhappy with their current health insurance. Not only does it give them the money, it lets them shop health insurance nationwide.

Life is so easy when everything is black and white.

I don't think I read a single poster talk about how much they LOVE big pharma, or the crooked insurance companies.

We all KNOW they are crooked, that they rape us whenever they get a chance and they would rather let us die then pay for a procedure or clean up the filth they put in the drugs they get us addicted to, or try to kill us with.

The problem is that we haven't been given a choice. It's not our fault that the proposed reform doesn't offer us a different solution. Nobody ASKED us what we wanted. They don't even CARE what anyone thinks.

Please don't think for an instant that these fat cats that have been sucking our blood for decades under the guise of drug and insurance companies are going to miss a meal if the 'system' gets reformed. They are IN on the TALKS. They can AFFORD to have their voice heard. When we speak out, we're idiots, right-wing nutjobs or we just plain don't know what's good for us.

What we need is affordable insurance that isn't going to force us to die if we have high blood pressure, if we get over 65, or we happen to be a little retarded. We should be able to choose the coverage we want and be able to AFFORD the coverage we choose.

Whether or not the Canadian system sucks, is irrelevant. It's not ours. I wonder if theirs was a thousand pages long when it was proposed.

People aren't idiots, right wingers, liberals, conservatives, rebubs, dems or any other absolutely STUPID label for not wanting to lose the freedom of choice, or to keep their children from inheriting a debt that isn't even a real freakin' number any more.

'Yeah, we're going to add on sixty five bagillion dollars to reform healthcare, and yeah, that makes the deficit somewhere around 5 billibohdillion dollars, but hey, the stock market is up and things are looking good! Oh, by the way, since you would only have about ten good years left, we're going to give that liver to the 16 year old unwed mother. She has a longer life expectancy.'

To tell you the truth, health care is expensive because doctors are expensive.

What shouldn't be expensive is medicine, Big Pharma should be government controlled.

WTH are you on about, just because we don't want this crap the government is pushing does not mean we do not want reform!

Health care reform DOES NOT have to be GOVERNMENT RUN!

How hard is this to understand???

Uncle Fud can't run a railroad profitably (amtrak) do you really want them having their hands in your vital life processes?

Sheesh.

Who are really the shills here?
