AFL-CIO blasts "corporate mobs" at recess town hall meetings

www.pww.org

The AFL-CIO has called on its union affiliates to defend lawmakers’ health care reform Town Hall meetings from “Corporate…mob rule” in recent days.

AFL-CIO President John Sweeney sent out a memo this week outlining a blue-print for union members to counter the campaign of fear and intimidation in which hired thugs are infiltrating health care town hall meetings to heckle, disrupt and even physically assault health care reform advocates.

“We want your help to organize major unions to counter the right-wing ‘Tea Party Patriots’ who will try to disrupt those meetings as they

I don't know what to think of this.

To be honest, I feel that we in America have no individualism any more.

The Anti-healthcare people are all being told what to say in an organized fashion and being bussed in.

The Unions (who rightfully negotiate health care as part of their compensation) are now responding.

When did Town Halls become something were you would see people not from your town?

Frankly, Town Halls should only allow those who live in that county to be there. Otherwise it's not a Town Hall.

How are you supposed to get the actual pulse of the people, when the same people meet you at every stop?

Heh...

I don't think anyone ever said they were scary.

They just are not bringing solutions. Only problems.

Wait a minute. Organizations like the AFL-CIO and ACORN can organize rallies and protests to get their point across and thats ok. When people against a government run healthcare system organize and protest to get their voices heard they are called an unruly mob? It doesn't get more hypocritical than that.

This is America, people have the right to protest against the government. These are not mobs as you put it. These are normal Americans that are tired of government intrusion into their lives.

I want proof, of this statement, coming from a Union that is heavily invested in this administration and health care policy isn't going to cut it.

I want pictures of these people getting off the bus.

The double standard has to stop. Saying that these thousands of people are being bushed in and organized by Big Pharma or who ever just isn't cutting it anymore.

Proof that these are organized by the "evil corporations".

"This is America. People have the right to protest against the Goverment"...PLEASE read my post again, AND look at the photos on the link I provided.. I'm WITH you on this, not against you...
My point was, that they are saying "we the people" who dont agree with Obama's Socialist Health Care Agenda, are turning into scarey "Mobs", and the link I provided shows no such thing..It shows everyday Americans, who have not been listened to at all...
I think Obama and his strong arm Union boys, need to think twice about squelching the voices of "We the people"

I sure would love to see a cancelled check to one of these dangerous 'disruptive' senior citizen 'thugs'.

This is propoganda at it's most blatant and nothing but a return to Union Strong Arm tactics of intimidation and violence to extort a preferred outcome that's good for the Union.

The only thuggish behavior I see is in statements like this from the AFL-CIO without one shred of evidence to establish it's accusations as being even remotely factual.

I have to tell you I am a guy who isn't above hiring thugs to employ in an endeavor where thugs can get the job done...I look for certain things in a Thug, like (a) not being 65 or older (b) not having to use a cane or walker (c) not wearing Depenz (d) need no afternoon naps (e) have to stop busting heads to take a call from their grand kids.

Thugs? Laugh out loud, does no one have an ounce of intelligence anymore or a bit of common sense.

Show me the money, prove that it's all a paid for organized opposition.

WANTED: Tough Senior Citizens able to brandish brass knucles and iron pipes for distrupting town hall meetings, you must be willing to engage in violence, have an imposing phsyique and demeanor and own your own weapons, as well as be able to angrily read prepared statements: Box Lunch and Transportation Provided P/T F/T positions available...

Right!

Yep

Bunch of spineless cowards... Over the phone town halls... Death threats...

I'm sure that all comes from some organized right wing big business... More like some nutjob that is pissed off beyond belief.

Not condoning it, however, if they are too much a coward to go see their constituents it's clear that they are on their way out. 2010 is too far off for most of them. If they fear for lives there is nothing keeping them in office...

Congressmen/women didn't sign up for battle duty. They should leave office if they are really that afraid for their lives.

No, wait, just scream fear feAR FEAR... these mobs are crazy.

Aren't the police making arrests on these threats? Whose being incompetent or who is blowing this out of proportion?

All I see are many many congressmen/women fired soon. Blow out congress they are failing to represent us... Health Care is the last straw.

Well this article from the Richmond VA Times Dispatch discusses the bussing etc. The describe everything in pretty good detail.. but alas no photos...

A 13-state tour aiming to rally patients to speak out against President Barack Obama's desired health-care overhaul is scheduled to kick off in Richmond this weekend.

Americans for Prosperity's "Patients First" bus tour will start Saturday at a Richmond-area Tea Party, before traveling around the country and through the states of key U.S. senators in the health-care debate, said Ben Marchi, state director of Americans for Prosperity.

Organizers will urge constituents to call or visit their senators and sign a petition that asks members of Congress to "oppose any legislation that imposes greater government control over my health care that would mean fewer choices for me and my family and even deny treatments to those in need."

The bus, covered with a giant red hand print and a message that reads: "Hands Off My Health Care," is slated to make 26 stops in Virginia.

Organizing for America, a grass-roots organization set up by the Democratic National Committee, also has held events in the state. They are calling on Congress to pass a comprehensive health-care bill.

After departing Virginia, the "Patients First" bus will travel to North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Indiana and Louisiana, Marchi said. Another bus will travel to Nebraska, Colorado, South Dakota, North Dakota, Montana, Iowa, Arkansas and Missouri.

I am starting to believe there really are political operatives and hacks working these forums to propagandize.

YUp been going on for about six years or more, cause confusion, post out right lies, making people angry with oneanother.

Hrmm, well here is the map Interesting didn't see Florida on that trip also they have all their dates listed on that page too.

Yep, try again. Either way it is a grassroots campaign and there is nothing "manufactured" about it either.

You are going to have to come with more proof than that especially when they have their schedule listed at the their site.

Also what is the difference between this and ACORN and the Unions coming in and protesting? All I see is a double standard, when it doesn't fit the lefts idea of a protest it is all manufactured.
