Are you serious?

Are you yanks protesting over the government trying to introduce a national health care system? My god the levels of ignorance and stupidity knows no bounds.

Let me be brief, until the age of 18 I held joint citizenship, Uk and America. I grew up in England (London) but chose to become an American at the age of 18 (I joined the USAF). If you are unfamiliar with america, let me fill you in, socialism in any form just won't work here. People enjoy their freeedoms and take their (our) form of the Magna Carta much more seriously than you do. Ignorance and stupidity? I think not. American ingenuity, free expression, more likely.

Yes I am ripping on your post and yes I ripping on all those protesters.

This makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. YOU ARE ONE OF THE MOST DEVELOPED NATIONS IN THE WORLD. YOU SPEND THE MOST OUT OF ALL THE DEVELOPED NATIONS ON HEALTH CARE YET YOU RECEIVE THE WORST HEALTH CARE OUT OF ALL THE DEVELOPED NATIONS.

Actually it is the best. I can/will provide references but if it is so terrible, why does every developed nation in the world come here for care?

Should i spell it out any clearer? Do you want to know why this is occurring? BECAUSE PRIVATE HEALTH CARE COMPANIES ARE SCREWING YOU OVER.

But gee you guys must love suffering. Try and do something good, you protest and whinge.

Actually it's the lawyers screwing us over. Tort reform would ease the cost of care by a factor of a hundred.

I don't support obama one bit he is a puppet for the elites just like his predecessors.

But seriously like a poster before me said, of all things to protest about you choose this? Millions of Iraqis and Afghans dead for what? Can't you see your fighting peasants so you can steal their oil for your masters. Can't you see your fighting a guerrila war where every Iraqi or Afghani could be an insurgent. TELL ME WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME A STAGED ARMY WON A WAR AGAINST A GUERRILLA ARMY?

War, topic for another time, this strikes out to everyone here though. And if people start waking up, well then, maybe we can tackle that war issue afterwards.

Was it in Vietnam? Was it in Afghanistan? Was it in Iraq?

The elites are feeding of you like the slaves you are and all you can think of doing is protesting universal health care which will raise the quality of life in America drastically. Next someone will say its a communist or socialist idea.

You say that we are led by the elites? When was the last time youlooked at the make up of Parliament?

Well guess what, it is. So is state police, firefighting, emergency services etc... Should we abolish these things as well. Go back to the good old days where if you didn't have the right pendent on your door the firefighters would ride right past your house.

Those are actually paid for by local taxes and not federal. Useless analogy.

Yanks like to say communism is good in theory but in reality its a failed system. Well most countries of the world have gone the way of capitalism mostly thanks to you guys and most people of the world as a consequence of capitalism are very very very poor. In reality and in theory capitalism works very well and its going to make most of you very very poor.

Back in the day the working class banded together under unions to fight for health cover, decent hours and wages, holidays, healthy working conditions etc. They fought the elite merchant class so they could have these basic necessities to have a decent standard of living.

And it worked. We (thanks to capitalism), have more, and are in charge of our own lives.

Now when you have a chance to finally cement that basic RIGHT into society as law, you are fighting tooth and nail against it. Your ancestors will be turning over in their graves.

There never was a right to healthcare. There never will be. Where's the right to getting a ride to work? A house? That's getting ridiculous!

I'll tell you something else that you probably did not know about communism. At the height of Russia's powers their were no bums on the street or homeless people. There was a basic standard of living everyone had free health care, free education, food and housing. Why am i bringing this up? Because your leaders (puppets for the elites) will say, "universal health care is a socialist idea, or do you want to be like Canada or England" and being typical good little propagandized sheep you gobble that up. JUST BECAUSE AN IDEA COMES FROM A DIFFERENT COUNTRY OR A DIFFERENT SYSTEM OF GOVERNANCE DOES NOT NECESSARILY MEAN ITS A BAD IDEA BY DEFAULT.

Just no freedom of speech. No individual rights. Just scrap the Constitution, right? -sheesh-

I'm praying with my fingers crossed that America goes the way of Argentina.

Bringing up the Faklan Islands? Not a chance.

As a side note, I may never be able to run for president
but I do appreciate the US and what it has to offer. Coming from another country, I respect what alot take for granted.

Nice for someone that has lived both sides of the coin to tell it like it is.

Makes me wonder if some of these folks are who they say they are, and live where they say they live.

Or possibly they just swallow what their own government feeds them, "You don't want free market health care, the Yanks have it and they are dieing in droves!!!"

BTW Mike, thank you for your service to this country, mine AND yours now.

A pity I wasent there with them! I think any form of protest is healthy for the body, mind, heart and soul. It does wonders for the eyes watching it, and wonders for the county itself.

A true pity it wasent any bigger, or on a more relavant issue. (IE: The economic war with other countries.)

Praise to there courage! Praise to the OP for your hard work! Well done here on ATS!

Thank you.

It gives a unique perspective. I used to argue with my father about how much better the UK system was, I broke my arm, was treated and released. Then I came to the States and saw a REAL difference. First, they had to rebreak my arm, the British docs set it wrong, but the level of care was like stepping onto another planet.

Don't get me wrong, though. If I ever get the employment oppourtunity, I will go back. -just as a bloody yank, though-

And little johnny didn't need insurance to pay for his cancer treatment anyway. Sucks to have a preexisting condition...

Let's not get mad about the bilderbergs or the federal reserve ( same thing?
). Lets not get mad about ear marks or elections being rigged. Make sure nobody gets angry over the fact the media is full of BS and people are losing their freedom of speech.

It seems each day that the world really does need a reset button. If all the MSM are telling you to get mad about something then you probably should look into the facts.

You know...I'm 40% with you. I used to be pro-Universal healthcare, but now I am afraid that the portable data record is just another way they can force Real ID. I'm not sure if its worth it. Why not give tax credits to samaritan organizations or groups willing to fund free health clinics rather than do it the way they're doing it now.

It just seems fishy.

I suppose I could just get stoned, drop some acid and have really great, psychedelic sex with everyone.

Then I wouldn't care that they are robbing me blind, turning me into a slave or worse (yes, a slave gets three squares and a cot; political prisoners get raped, beaten and killed).

But now they are doing it in the name of my children and ya know what? That really makes me furious.

Bring it on, says I. It's better than cowering hoping beyond hope that they'll kill someone else if only I am quiet enough.

If that's the only way to "win" then I would rather die fighting.

I stopped reading the posts when I say the majority of people cheering this on.
You all claim to be awake. Yet, you are merely sleepwalkers feigning consciousness.

This, this "uprising", is what they want us to do. Do you dull minded armchair revolutionaries understand that? They want us to throw the first stone so they can crackdown with the power of an iron fist. You fail to realize that we are the catalyst that will form the NWO, our hate and violence is the catalyst.

I grow worried reading what you people say from a day to day basis. 80% of you would be more useful asleep. I wish more intellectuals would become awake rather than those who can not see that blind rage is what they are counting on.(call it calculated if you want, the fringe is dangerous no matter what you say)

I say to you all, wake up. WAKE UP. WAKE UP. You start uprising once you see the controlled opposition and the hate that they instill within us. You acting on the hate further drives their agenda. WAKE UP, love yourself and love others how you love yourself. Stop being concerned about their skin color, beliefs, religion (or lack of). You are playing into your "master's" hand. Stop and WAKE UP

But, this will go on being ignored or rebutted with some witty remarks.

I hope providence has its way.

Why the binary "either / or" logic?

If there is a problem with non-insurance, Why is the all powerful Federal government the answer?

Why don't you buy health insurance for a deprived friend? Marry her/him and add her/him to your policy. Go around town and take up a collection for a catastrophic policy with an HSA (these are actually great plans and they return control -- and responsibility for prices -- BACK TO THE COMMON AMERICAN.

Better yet, why not start your own health co-op. Hire a doctor. Lease a building.

But rather than these common sense, prototypically American responses to a problem, Why are we being asked to line up like good little bolsheviks and salute Papa Joe?

And for the record: I despise contemporary "health care". My parents were both prematurely killed by this system and I have suffered incredible, outrageous bills for my own "Gold Plated Insurance" left overs.

As much as I hate for-profit medicine that holds your life hostage as soon as you walk in the door, making you sign a blank check before you get medical help,

I hate the Federales even more. If anyone displays the banality of evil, it is Our Royal Masters in Washington.

You have 45 million Americans without any form of healthcare. These people work, pay their taxes etc etc.

You would rather have some insurance company decide whether or not you get treatment as opposed to no opposition to getting treatment at all?

I think these protests are held out of two things:

1)manipulation by the current medical powers who by the way govern themselves via the ama.

2) sheer ignorance of the issue and continued fear.

yes, America should wake up. Your country never was what you thought it was. the machinations of it are rusted and broken and straining the resources of the rest of the planet.

tone it down or pay the consequences.

You guys talk about socialized services as if they are evil. That is ignorant as there are many healthy and happy people who live under systems of socialized medicine in their own country,.

besides, you don't think it won't be two or even tree tiered in it's delivery do you?

people are stupid cattle pulled around by their noses depending on who is interested in doing so.

Sorry I didn't mean to come off as ripping on your post
. It makes me angry that people are so blind these days and health care for everyone is one of the only things I actually think is something the government should try and provide for the people.

The people in the videos are mostly getting mad because of disinfo just like TPTB want them to.

The vast majority of what ppl are angry about is right there in the bill
to read, if you go read it you will see it as well.

There is a reason it was passed without giving ppl time to read the bill.

That reason is if they had read it, they would not have voted for it.

This has happened with some of the other bills, and I suppose you
wanna give them a pass for not reading the other bills too ?

This is about to get very ugly.

So what? What does that have to do with the price of cheese?

So you are determining Constitutional rights and whether it's ok to say something by how many people listen to a particular person? Is that your flawed logic? Unbelievable!

This uprising seems to have reached the high echelons...

We have an article in The New York Times...
Where Have You Gone, Joe the Citizen?

www.nytimes.com...

On Thursday, liberals struck back: President Obama’s political organization sent a mass e-mailing urging supporters to turn out for a Kratovil event at a library, to “make sure your support for health insurance reform is seen and heard.”

The spin on this article is very obvious...even though they bait at the beginning with the tidbit about the Obama Administration's call to action.

In the end...this journalist, Stolberg concludes that the end result of these uprisings could be that the Congresspeople make the decision to quit listening.

Really now. I dare say they are going to get away with that!

I do not see any uprising in the near future.

Perhaps you are just not hanging around with the right people. There is a lot of built-up anger in this country.

Look at the following figure regarding assassination attempts on Obama:

It works all "over the world"?????? What world do u live in??????? Are u actually trying to suggest that socialized healthcare is a success in Great Britain, Canada, Cuba, et al.??? What drugs are u on???? Can I have some?

Funny, Barney Frank was asked a month or two back this very question, i.e., if socialized medicine, which has been tried and tested the world over, is such a success, please name one country where it actually functions so damn well? After straining for thought for a few, his response? Scandinavia....LOL...

Go stick your head back in the toilet bowl, u drone...

well ive heard the horror stories from the people of the UK and Canada about the health care in those countries. Stop being blinded by Obama words and his cronies anal mouth spewing trash and just read the bills and listen to the facts. America has the best health care in the world, other comes here to get the services they cant with their universal health care plan.

The truth is seen through reading and thinking.

You liberals refuse to see truth and facts, you just keep your eyes shut thinking whatever they say is the best.

In all honesty both parties are broken, there needs to be a true change in America and this is one Obama cant do, no we cant obama. Your leading the blind and arrogant fools to their deaths. You will be a 1 term president that is for sure and the rest will begin the fall in 2010. You work for us not the other way around. I for one am sick in tired of all this.

So what? He is a citizen.

Are you just as disappointed in Pelosi who called protestors Nazi's? Pelosi is an elected official who should NOT say such things.

Please stop with your faux outrage.

I am no Pelosi fan, but....

Accuracy and truth has value: What Pelosi said was not that "Protesters are Nazi's"

That is a lie.

She was asked about the supposedly RNC and Pharma backed and organized "grassroots" healthcare reform opposition protests at the townhall meetings and what she said was...

"I think they’re Astroturf… You be the judge. They’re carrying swastikas and symbols like that to a town meeting on healthcare."

From Congressman Lloyd Doggett event..

And from the Town Hall event at Fort Collins with Rep. Betsy Markey (D-Colo.)...

And since that comment, there has been sufficient photgraphic evidence and right wing rhetoric demostrating that Pelosi's comment was NOT unfounded as many right wing blogs originally suggested.

Unwise, unhelpful to the debate...not well thought out...a poor choice of words, an aping of DNC strategy and talking points...her comments were IMO all of those things, but they were NOT unfounded.

One person carrying a "no" swastika sign is not representative of America. Pelosi knows that...she is painting. With a broad brush on purpose to discredit the voices of United States Citizens, Democrats, and Republicans alike!

Astroturf? Really, is that the most intelligent insult putdown to the people she could come up with?

Poor, very low language choices like that should never be heard coming from The Speaker of The House.

Pelosi lowered herself to the gutter when she chose to use such language. Is that the best she can do to defend her "cause"?

I am not sure you clearly understood what she was saying.

"Astro-turf" was refering to "false grass" as opposed to "real" grass roots.

The implication being that the "grass roots" protesters are contrived mobs as opposed to citizen voices.

There is a good amount of evidence that this is the case for some of the these protesters...what percentage, we don't know.

They have found many have been bused in by the RNC from out of district. Kind of like "professional protesters" moving from town-hall meeting to town hall-meeting screaming the same thing...

All of it more geared toward antogonizing and disprupting genuine discussion rather than participating in genuine debate.

If they have been told to disrupt discussion rather than engage in civil debate...what does that tell you about how secure Pharma and big money feel in their arguments.

I am not hearing logic...I am hearly misinformation and hate language coming from those opposed...which is disappointing. Those with genuine concerns get drowned out by those idiots.
