Until last October I lived in New Zealand, I'm from Texas, was just working in NZ for 4 yrs...at any rate they have a version of nationalized health care..astounding...twice while we were there the govt. cleared the waiting list for treatment, they do this because it gets too long and folks start complaining about the amount of time it takes to get surgeries and other major treatments.

Clearing the roles (generally before elections) allows them to show low wait times for major procedures...it really is outlandish...you have folks waiting for life saving treatment and they get recycled back onto a "new" list.

And yes if you want to bypass all that list stuff you get insurance from Southern Cross.

I just find it amazing how many people who have never lived under a national health care system sing the praises of one...believe me, anyone who has lived under one doesn't sing about it.

Once you take into account the labeling of half the population as right-wing extremists and potential terrorists, I'm sure they can make a case for it being legal. All they have to do is claim they are tracking potential terrorists and there go our rights out the window.

I live in Portugal.. And that does not happen.. There are waiting lists.. but they arent "refreshed".. The problem is HALF-SOLVED with "checks" to go to a private hospital close to your residence area.. I should know.. that happened to my mother.. You cant take ONE National Healthcare System and say that ALL are like that..

I'm in no way saying they are all the exact same...but I do however believe they all share a common blueprint.

I cannot speak to Portugal's health system, I will trust your experience with that one, New Zealand's health care system is alot like the U.K.s I believe, with American style insurance thrown in for people who can afford it and don't want to wait the lists.

Of course they do.. The understandement that health is a right.. not a privilege.. and that a healthy population is essential for a good and prosperous country.. Not saying that cant be done with the private sector.. im not advocating a single player system.. But for that understatement to be realized you have to have some sort of government intervention..

Umm...yes it does.

It says that USA is not that bad in health care.. FINE! I dont care! Just quit the BS!

That is NOT what it says.

If that is what you believe then you either did not actually read it completely or you have reading comprehension issues.

Wow, how convienent.

So I am correct that you cannot refute any of the points in the link. Just as I thought. You are trying to deflect from the fact that you have been proven wrong and you are not man enough to admit it. Pathetic!

We already have health care for the poor. With all the spin however it is not surprising people from other countries don't know that.

No hospital can refuse to treat us. If we are low income or no income, we just have to fill out some paperwork to prove it and we get care.

We without question have the best care available on Earth. Even leaders from other countries come here. Canadians flood the clinics near the border looking for timely and better care. I know, I've seen it first hand.

Obama is the scariest person we have ever had in the White House!!! When you combine his known friends with things like what this thread is about, we start to see he is wanting to completely revamp our system. He has never owned, or operated a business and only sees the world through the eyes of the extremists he spent his life with.

He is like the perpetual University Student who has never experienced the real world outside of academia. The saying those who can do and those who can't teach is true in this case. He was and is not qualified for his office. It is like hiring a Carpenter to do Brain Surgery and it is no surprise he is so completely out of touch with the people he is supposed to SERVE.

Okay folks, how about we get back on topic with the issue of this thread, as in the communist tactics the Administration is doing by trying to "fact check" dissenters against, they know all plan?

I find this absolutely appalling personally. We have senators and congressmen coming out saying there isn't enough time to read the bills, but somehow the people in the White House that admits to not having read the bills are going to fact check them?

Yea, whatever that is BS, they need to all submit their own names to the list. In fact actually how about we report the governments own website to the list?

How can anyone be in favor of socialized health care? If the government wants to reform health care, they should start with TORT REFORM. We haven't heard that phrase in a while, have we? Why? Because lawmakers are all lawyers and that's how they make their living - suing people (ergo, their insurance companies) and copping 1/3 for themselves.

Health insurance costs go up every year because of frivolous lawsuits and illegal immigration, mostly. As for illegals, someone has to pay for all those ER visits (and translators) that can't be billed to anyone. Keep in mind that the ER is usually the first and last place illegals go for their health care needs. When has the ER ever been the cheapest place to get a band-aid?

As you all know, the '45 million uninsured' number the socialists have been using is bravo sierra, but we all know that here.

Apologies if someone already brought any of this up. I don't always get a chance to read everything before I post.

A Republican senator is calling for the White House to suspend a new project that asks members of the public to flag “fishy” claims about President Obama’s health care plans, arguing that it raises privacy concerns and will serve to chill free speech.

Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, is sending a letter to the White House today asking the president to “cease this program immediately” -- or to explain how Americans’ privacy will be protected if e-mails are forwarded to the White House as requested.

“I am not aware of any precedent for a President asking American citizens to report their fellow citizens to the White House for pure political speech that is deemed ‘fishy’ or otherwise inimical to the White House’s political interests,” Cornyn writes

Most likey you will suddenly get a letter from the IRS for an Audit- that will keep you busy for awhile. You will be exposed and attacked by the Goon Squad. And finally someone will come to help you from the Government.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I could have sworn that I read an article stating that Australia was looking at moving away from their current health care system because they could not longer support it. That there were trends of people moving to private health care because of wait times and other issue with your current system.

If I am wrong I apologize.

yeh well aussie govt sucks with money too.. they actually want to eliminate all public systems in the long run including pensions. thatcherism bleeding through. they have already sold of any state owned utilities, that people had paid for with taxes. eg... telstra. built and made by the govt. for the people. sold to private enterprise... now they own the infrastructure that generations of aussies already paid for... and we have to rent that back!!!!

my point is right now.. healthcare works.
