I don't like clinton or the current administation, and I too ponder what was given for them, but, I am very happy these ladies are home and do have to give the obama administration and clinton some praise in their quick handling of the issue

I wonder what was actually promised to get this done. Good news if true.

The visit from Clinton was the promise. Or rather, Kim refused to release the journalists until Clinton visited him, the guy didn't really have any choice.

He was probably sweating the whole hour and a quarter wondering if he was going to be dragged off and executed while they ate dinner together.

And they call N.K. bad?

Are we sure about that?

Um, yes. They have the highest population control in the modern world.

There is a law that forbids people from reading anything democratic under punishment of life in prison. You must throw away any "Democratic propaganda" and worship anything with Kim on it.

The people believe that if you touch anything Democratic, their skin will erode. The government told them that, so I still think, even after this, they are bad.

And where exactly did you get this information from?

Im sure that there are countries with higher population control , for instance look at many muslim states , they use religion as a method of control!

If im not mistaken the DPRK chooses not to allow journalists into their country, and how do we get reports from the DPRK from japanese journalists, chinese journalists, south korean journalists and russian journalists.
How many of the afore mentioned are arms of the american empire?
so most news about the DPRK is heavily sided with imperialist america.
Lets not forget that the DPRK is a communist / socialist state, they are for their people despite what the rest of the world says.
We only have to look at how the UNSC were pressured into drafting resolutions on the DPRK by the US after their missle tests, which were reported to the UNSC as satellite launches for weather and communications. The UNSC authorised the tests but as soon as the US dissaproved they put their foot down on the UNSC.

We cannot jump to conclusions about the DPRK , since none of us live there , we cannot assume that the DPRK have evil intetions with regards to nuclear proliferation and an arms race in the korean penninsula.

All i see here is the US imperialist army trying to stamp out communism once and for all. Once they crush the DPRK like they did russia , next stop is CUBA.

you can get information on the DPRK from the KFA korean friendship association , which is a source of info which should be considered.

EDIT: i forgot to mention in obama's key note speech in Egypt , he said that "it is not the decision of one nation to pick and choose whether another nation has access to nuclear power" - then why the hell are the US messing with the DPRK???

for a good report on this , check out Bill blum , the anti-empire report killinghope.org...

We will never know what type of agreement was reached between Bill and Lil Kim. The simple fact that they were immediately released and put on plane tells me it was something grand.

Clinton flies in to save the day. Something Obama could not accomplish. I strongly suspect that Lil Kim has a great deal more respect for Clinton than he does Obama.

Oh to be a fly on the wall during that meeting.

Now that he released the reporters, now it is about time for him to try talks...again.

In this way, at this time, if "he" (KIM) calls for talks, it would make the US/West look very bad if they did not respond.

The sun shines through the jet window as Hillary Clinton awakens from a nap in her seat. She peers down at the approaching airport.

"Where are we? This doesn't look like France!" as the North Korean soil rushes up to meet the plane...

(This was actually one of Bill Clinton's demands)

This was just mentioned to me this morning, verbally, and as yet unproven.

I was told by a very reliable source (yeah, arn't they all) that the two reporters either workered directly for al gore or for a company owned/operated by al gore.

Again, I have no proof as of this second, anyone out seen this????

Al Gore owns (with a partner) a relatively new TV station called Current TV. These two women were employed by that station.

Thank you Jso.

I am not sure it directly applies to the post, but still interesting, none the less.

I am not awear of any close personal or professiona; relationships between clinton(s) and gore(s).

It "may" just be a a non-issue.

Supposedly NK asked specifically for Bill Clinton to come there.

Another strange tidbit - the head of NK's nuclear program met Clinton's plane on the tarmac...???

Evidently, Bill was the agreement.

It seems that when we asked "What do you want?" They said "Send Bill Clinton".

You see he was supposed to make a trip there during his admin, but never did. And KJI really wanted to see him.

I dunno why... but that's pretty much it.

I'll tell you exactly what this smells like.

1. Bill had nothing to do with the two journalists' release as they were released immediately upon his arrival, which indicates a deal was pre-arranged

2. Hilary is the foreign relations goto person now - bet you anything she was pulling the puppet strings, of course with someone pulling hers, and it wasn't B.O.

3. She'll be using this as leverage in 2012 to take the Democratic nomination away from Obama for president on the basis that America has "no confidence" in his ability as a leader.

Whether Hilary actually set this up from the beginning is up for speculation, but the circumstances of seizing and holding onto those two journalists never smelled right and now the picture is becoming increasingly clear as to what's really going on.

Remember what a bunch of said back when Hilary was fighting B.O. for the nomination? She threw in the towel and backed him up a little too easily and with a poisonous smile on her face. We all know the Clintons crave power. They absolutely thirst for it. She took a position of power in B.O.'s cabinet and I'll bet you anything this is going to amount to one big power grab.

Clinton is looked upon favorably by Little Kim. Clinton was negotiating on friendly terms with NK when he was prez. But he ran out of time when the 2000 elections came about.

Kim has/had good memories of those times - maybe he was hoping to revive them?

The socialist / communist mistery deepens.... now america is become more and more a socialist state they can interact more openly with the communist socialist state of north korea..
under bush this couldn't be done and I ask my self what kind of promises of deals there were made using clinton as the one to make the deals so obama isn't directly in sight as the one if anything would go wrong but it was obama with the master plan ..
Next thing is the landing an meeting of obama and the not world wide accepted president of Iran... or is this a bit to open minded ???

but great that those two journalist have been freed but I want to now what the price was...

From threats of nuclear war to send slick willy and get the reporters released.

I smell background actions in the works.

So, was he threatened or appeased wioth money????

I don't think he was threatened. Threats would have just made him more belligerent.

He wants the US to participate in 1 on 1 talks instead of the 6 way talks. And with Obama, he might just get them.

Whatever is going on behind the scenes within the US governement reagrding North Korea is anyones guess , but the main thing in this situation is that the journalists were released , and that North Korea are maybe looking towards talks with the US maybe.
Whats more interesting is how things will change when Kim's son takes over as successor.
How will the DPRK power elite take to the new successor and what will his son do when in power.
Lets hope he is a peaceful man.
IMO if you leave the socialists alone then they wont bother anyone, but as soon as you have an imperialist state bully them they are like a lion in a corner!
You could also say that when and if they enter talks with the US its like two little boys playing with a stick , its only a matter of time before one of them gets hurt !

I'm sorry, but am I the only one not falling for this propaganda?

I simply do not believe any of this, it's so fake as to be laughable.

I don't know the reasons behind it but my gut tells me it was a set up, a show for global media, a faked scenario.

I read about this maybe a week ago, I'd never heard of these reporters till then, and you'd think the US government and all the media outlets would have mentioned it before now wouldn't you, what with all the media coverage over the Nuclear testing? What, they forgot to mention there were two reporters being held while covering all of that?

A week goes by and suddenly Clinton is there, meeting Kim, mass media involvement. A couple of days later (if that) and there are cameras to film the two women leaving N.Korea. Then footage of them landing to be greeted by clean-cut husbands and children. Then a press statement in which a gushing "freed reporter" tells the world how grateful she is to the Obama administration and the Clinton/Gore team.

I know dramatics when I see it.

I just don't buy it at all. It doesn't sit right with me and there is something going on here that we are not being told about.
The whole thing from beginning to end seemed staged and carefully choreographed.

It would not surprise me to find out that these two reporters were paid large sums to act in this scenario, and that the real reason behind all of this was to pay Kim off without anyone knowing about it.

Whatever the reason, I am certain that the two women and their husbands were all acting. And I'm also certain that the media coverage was created by the US administration to cover over the real reasons behind that visit.

I am not usually so suspicious of such things, and I'm often the one with a sensible approach to anything deemed as unfairly suspicious, but this was just so obviously done for global media, and the acting was so poor, there is definitely another story here and this has been created t hide it.
