"I don't think we're going to be able to eliminate employer coverage immediately. There's going to be potentially some transition process..."

Just saw this video, and it pretty much sums up what the plan is for a "single payer system" The people need to be informed of EXACTLY what will happen with their healthcare. Then, if it is still something that the majority of people want then i'm ok with that, even though it may not be what I want, that is the beauty of democracy. But what we have here is an attempt to hide the real plan and portray i as something else so it wil be passed. Unfortunatly that is how politics works today.

The more I find out about the health care reform, the more I realize that this is nothing more than a political sleight of hand, for Obama to get re-elected. If enacted, the bill does not take effect until 2013, AFTER the next presidential election. Do you want to bet that in 2013, if Obama gets elected, the bill will either be canceled or drastically altered, regardless of whether the Dems or Reps win?

Wouldn't that be nice!!!! I tend to feel the same way as Bill Maher:

Not everything in America has to make a profit.

It used to be that there were some services and institutions so vital to our nation that they were exempt from market pressures. Some things we just didn't do for money. The United States always defined capitalism, but it didn't used to define us. But now it's becoming all that we are.....

...And finally, there's health care. It wasn't that long ago that when a kid broke his leg playing stickball, his parents took him to the local Catholic hospital, the nun put a thermometer in his mouth, the doctor slapped some plaster on his ankle and you were done. The bill was $1.50, plus you got to keep the thermometer.

But like everything else that's good and noble in life, some Wall Street wizard decided that hospitals could be big business, so now they're run by some bean counters in a corporate plaza in Charlotte. In the U.S. today, three giant for-profit conglomerates own close to 600 hospitals and other health care facilities. They're not hospitals anymore; they're Jiffy Lubes with bedpans. America's largest hospital chain, HCA, was founded by the family of Bill Frist, who perfectly represents the Republican attitude toward health care: it's not a right, it's a racket. The more people who get sick and need medicine, the higher their profit margins. Which is why they're always pushing the Jell-O.

Because medicine is now for-profit we have things like "recision," where insurance companies hire people to figure out ways to deny you coverage when you get sick, even though you've been paying into your plan for years.

When did the profit motive become the only reason to do anything? When did that become the new patriotism? Ask not what you could do for your country, ask what's in it for Blue Cross/Blue Shield.

If conservatives get to call universal health care "socialized medicine," I get to call private health care "soulless vampires making money off human pain." The problem with President Obama's health care plan isn't socialism, it's capitalism.

And if medicine is for profit, and war, and the news, and the penal system, my question is: what's wrong with firemen? Why don't they charge? They must be commies. Oh my God! That explains the red trucks!

The list goes on and on of all the big Liberals admitting their true goal...total Nationalization of the Health Care and Health Insurance Industries.

Here are a couple of my threads that tie quite nicely into this and to the growing list of Liberal Democrats that admit the truth.

Barney Frank - More proof the dems want to wipe out private insurance!

PROOF that Pelosi and the Dems want to wipe out Private Insurance!

The private insurance companies demand your money up front and by God you had better not miss one payment, But if you get sick they do absolutely everything they can to keep from paying for your health coverage.

first you have to meet an incredible deductible, Then you have to jump through the paperwork nightmare, Then they check to see if it's a pre-existing condition....anything they can to keep from having to pay.

Private insurance is a money making scam. They take your money and do everything they can to keep from paying out on any claim.

I hope Obama succeeds. I'm sure it will be a mess, but it will be a beginning.

A beginning to the end of private insurance.

It can't be worse.

As long as the health care and insurance racket are for profit enterprises, No American will ever be healthy.

Private insurance is a rip off to Americans and Corporations. When you think about how many people pay insurance on you yourself it is the biggest crime.

You must pay for your own health care.

Your company must pay insurance in case you are hurt on the job.

You pay insurance to cover injuries of yourself and others while operating motor vehicles.

You pay insurance to cover injuries occurring on your property.

How many times should we pay to insure the same person? Or, would we be better served with one fee covers any situation and medical cost anywhere you may be?

So you are saying to NO American is healty under the current system? Well I am healthy, my kids are healthy, my neighbors are healthy and some how we managed to all do that without a bit of help from the government.

It could definitely get worse. What is it going to be like when you have to go have to deal with some government official to get their permission for your next procedure. Why is my health and health records any business of the governments?

Nothing in this life is free. It is going to cost a fortune that we dont have, its going to lead to higher taxes, and the government will give you anything as long as you are willing to give away a little privacy and freedom of choice. That is how they function so well.

However, the reality behind this is a double whammy.

See, the lobbists within the PharmaCorp Industry lobbied to get this reform through. Now the Govt will take it over.

And guess what? Pharma Corp can charge double what they do now! Cuz Uncle Sam is paying and he will pay any price no matter how high!

Double Whammy = Double the profit

And everyone will go about thinking that the big corporations got it socked to them, yet in reality, they will be banking even bigger.

Oooooh, grapseofraft

you've done it again

you're always doing it

editing and adding

Now we really know what you're all about --

you've tried to hit every fear and emotion and insecurity people might have, in order to scare them and turn them against nationalised health care. Are you working for Megaphone ? Sounds a lot as if you are, imo

You're just speculating

an ALARMIST

trying to SCARE people.

Obviously there are HUGE PROFITS IN PRIVATISED HEALTH CARE

and must be LOTS OF JOBS FOR THE BOYS

or their minions wouldn't be running scare tactics all over the Net.

NOW it's becoming obvious just WHO is behind the 'birth cert' smears against Obama.

You guys are looking real bad

and Obama is emerging as a true patriot who is trying to do good for his country against some pretty vile opposition

WHICH 'nation' runs, controls and owns most of America's privatised health care scams ?

No prizes for guessing right

Think about it for 2 seconds
REALLY, think

Private Health Insurance = Corporations controlling your health care and not paying when you become tragically ill

Government Health Insurace = Government controlling your health care and sometimes not allowing you to have some procedures

BOTH WAYS, YOUR BUTT WILL HURT (trying to avoid violation) They have it set up so that you are "messed up" no matter what happens to health care.

You all forget that the opposition is controlled. Yeah, the healthcare bill might be a sham but so is the private insurance. The Republicans are being paid by the insurance lobbyist. You all are complaining about the wrong things.

Worry about: HR 2749: Totalitarian Control of the Food Supply

BUT NO! You guys argue over healthcare, something that wouldn't change drastically if changed. Pathetic, you all argue over birth certificates and health care when the very things that your body absorb are being altered and changed before your eyes.

I'm just going to present this point of view.

Both the dems and republican have had 17 years to pass some kind of health care reform. The Dem's all want socialized medicine and the repubs want to continue big profits.

This is the facts of life that very few people seem to understand, if these people really cared about us, the people that they are supposed to represent, they could pass reforms that wouldn't cost us one cent in higher taxes or on our premiums while driving down costs.

This is how:

1) Letting insurance companies compete across state lines.
2) Make it illegal for insurance companies to deny a procedure
3) Get rid of HMO's and PPO's
4) Tort reform

There are 4 things that open up competition, promotes job growth, helps people, and drives down cost, and none of it cost anything.

It amazes me how many people are willing to just bend over and take it, KNOWING that what they are trying to push will end up a disaster. I don't trust these crooks.

And for anybody thinking that private insurance won't make out big with this, you are wrong, because the government will "choose" which people will fill the positions that this bill will create. Then Big Pharma will make out even better because now they can charge 3 times what they are charging now.

This is just like the new tobacco bill that passed earlier this year, Philip Morris backed it because the are able to afford to weather the storm and actually come out more profitable.

Our government is owned by private interest, you know why they are spending 1.5 million a day on lobbying? It isn't because they are trying to fight it, they are stuffing the coffers for the people they have in their pockets already.

Oh, it would change alright ... change a lot ... for the BETTER ... if it were nationalised

To begin with, you would have caught up with the rest of the civilized world

And it would mean 70 year olds wouldn't have to go out to work to pay for medications and basic health care as is currently the case and as has been reported in the media and online.

Americans who move to the UK or Australia, for example, cite free health care for their families as one of THE primary motivations for their relocation. They can't believe it's for FREE. And they get on their knees and kiss the ground of their new country every day.

It was in ATS, I'm fairly sure, that I read about an entire American family going bankrupt because the mother had pneumonia. That would NEVER happen in Australia, the UK or any other nation that has nationalised health care.

You know, I was also thinking...about private health care....and I'm not saying that public health care would be any different...BUT:

We know for a fact that private health care only fights the illness, not the cause...IF private health care paid for preventative medicine (i.e., vitamins, health club memberships, etc.) then I might think of them as somewhat noble. But aside from that, I don't think someones livelihood should come with co-pays and premiums....and denial notices! Therefore, I would rather place my livelihood in the hands of the government....nothing wrong with that, right? Just ask our troops!

But the above is Pigs Might Fly stuff, right ? Never going to happen

Whereas under nationalised health care, people could scrap their ludicrously high private health cover and head to the hospital or doctor for free.

At the same time, those addicted to paying massive private health insurance could continue to do so.

Please stop with this line, it is an absolute lie is what it is. America is just as civilized as the rest of the developed nations. Stop with your lame excuses a child would use.

Socialized medicine is not "better" it is worse than what we have now over here, I still have a hard time finding the logic that the government is evil at just about everything, but we should trust them with our health. That dog don't hunt.

You can't sit here and demean the government for all the evil things they have done in one sentence and then in the very next say they should take over our health care. It's ridiculous.

Socialized medicine takes care of ALL those issues...without adding to the mountains of already existing vague legislation

You got an illness....yo, He'll solve it...check out reform...while Obama resolves it!
