You all do note the language "US MILITARY PRISONERS"

That does not just apply to the Gitmo prisoners but anyone they want to take, for any reason, as evidence in GITMO.

Good observation, didn't catch that. This just keeps getting more frightening. I posted a thread yesterday about the order to use the military in the mandatory H1N1 vaccination program. The order is written and awaiting a signature. I wonder if one has anything to do with the other?

Let me address one point here while I was at gitmo I saw nothing in so far that you could or would call torture.

now you should know that the detainees are treated rather well for the conditions on the island what I mean by that is, It is hot in Cuba and humid so we have AC and the detainees get meals at breakfast lunch and dinner I have eaten many a meal there and I can tell you the food is better than what my wife makes at times.

Three programs are available for detainees that provide
intellectual stimulation, social recreation and instructional
training.
The Social Program includes communal living, recreation
and sports, communal meals and prayers, family phone calls
and mail.
l Mail: 22,255 pieces of mail delivered in 2008
w Regular post mail and ICRC mail
w Privileged attorney/client mail
l Detainees recreate in groups outdoors four to 20
hours/day and socialize with other detainees within
the camps.
l Detainees have the opportunity for quarterly phone
calls to family members.
l Sports opportunities include soccer, volleyball,
basketball, table-tennis, board games, foosball
tables and aerobic exercise machines.
The Intellectual Stimulation Program includes books,
magazines and puzzles, newspapers, handheld electronic
games, movies and satellite television.
Detainee Library:
l Library: More than 14,000 items
w 13,305 books
w 910 magazines
w 315 DVDs

I have only one question...

if the FEMA camps are as they say for emergencies like Katrina, why do they have barbed wire fences and electronic gates?

Was kinda wondering that myself, zorgon, but every time I mention that the government might be doing something nefarious I get called a fear monger. Good question.

That is a loaded question. Let me see in I can answer this without shooting my self in the face with it.

The short answer is yes, yes I can.

However the long answer is Hell no! And no 31E would not ever listen most all 31E think for our self’s we are independent andhave you ever seen the movie stripes? It’s allot like that in our attitude.

Now I can take any skill I have learned in the civilian world and use it in the military. in fact I have had to run a register, cook and clean. I learned all thoes skills at spencers gifts and buger king. So it is all relative the question you should ask is.

Would any 31E ever intentionally imprison any American citizens for refusing a vaccine? I believe you would be surprised by the answer because it would be a resounding no! We would not.

That is not to say your questions/s were bad or wrong at all in fact I welcome them to dispel a dogma about this MOS.

I certainly hope not and trust that most would get sick at the thought...

But on Monday, May 4, 1970 I was 19 and I remember clearly what happened that day... so I cannot say "It can't happen"

YOur answer bothers me in many ways. Clear concise , non threatening, and not entirely addressing everything I asked...

Like the shrinks and the applicability of your job duties to US citizens.

Extremely bothering is the term social programs.

That covers a broad range.

Also I was under the impression from the Mainstream Media that folks were brought to Gitmo to undergo "Intense Interrogation" Techniques. Such techniques like waterboarding. But being familiar with interrogation practices I seriously doubt that was the worst thing there.

SO THEN. You are a good internment / resettlement specialist.

Good job. As said before I say myself, May our paths never cross.

And May your career be short and uneventful.

The link in AshleyD's second post in this thread shows some. And I don't think anybody's angry with you for being skeptical (I'm not, anyway). It's an open debate and your insight and replies are welcome and appreciated.

Sometime it really sucks so many threads on one topic...

For those who say it can't happen... I will copy my post from that other thread as food for thought

No, there are no internment camps. Every year, someone says something is going to happen and nothing ever does. You'd think you people would've learned by now.

Native American 'resettled' to 'reservations'

McCarthy era arresting anyone believed to be a communist 'sympathizer'

WWII internment of Japanese that were American citizens

FEMA camps for 'emergency situations' Stockpiles of coffins... why do they need barbed wire if they are for emergency disaster relief?

Uh huh sure It will never happen here... and no way would our National Guard EVER shoot teenagers unarmed like they did at Kent State

Yuppers every generation has to relearn history the hard way.

Ok for one those were guardsmen not active duty and you have to take in to account that the military now is a different monster than it once was. I can not speak for that time I was not there and I did not see for my self what caused them to open fire. You must understand that if you were to sit down with lets say a 95C from the 70’s that is a prison guard or was once that is the old designator for my mos and a 31E of today you would have two completely different points of views on how and what a guard is. And how we should do our jobs.

Did you read what the programs were DVD’s and art programs you know you can request a tour for your self and you should really watch the documentary on gitmo form discovery I thought it was really good.

as for my response to your questions well I don't know if I can talk about the level of psyche care they get I don't know enough about that subject and I do not want to address it if I don't know about it I believe you can understand that that is why I directed you to the JTF GITMO site. I can talk about my experiences there at camp 5 I worked there and some of delta now as far as water boarding let me make this Cristal clear here I DID NOT SEE IT. And most of the photos that you see from gitmo were of camp x ray I will post some photos of what it used to look like and what it looks like now soon if you would like.

That's okay I don't see you as a d bag... you most likely are one of the good guys. My dad had to follow orders as well, but one day he made a joke about Herr Fuher and it was over heard by an officer and he was sent to the Russian front...

The Federal Emergency Management Agency prohibits journalists from having unsupervised interviews with Hurricane Katrina victims who have been relocated to FEMA trailer parks, according to a report in the Baton Rouge Advocate (7/15/06)

Dekotha Devall, whose New Orleans home was destroyed by the storm, was in her FEMA-provided trailer telling the Advocate reporter of the hardships of life in the camp when a security guard knocked on the door.

“You are not allowed to be here,” the guard is quoted as telling the reporter. “Get out right now.” The guard reportedly called police to force the journalist to leave the camp, and even prevented the reporter from giving the interview subject a business card. “You will not give her a business card,” the guard said. “She’s not allowed to have that"

Now this COULD be propaganda I will have to double check

I have been a 31E for 5 years now and for those of you not in the know that is an internment resettlement specialist. I have worked at Gitmo and outher military prisons and I can say beyond a shadow of a doubt...I have NEVER seen a fema camp or prison. nor have I worked or trained at any

Now with that said could they exist?....Yes they could just as zombie mice could exists. Both possible but most likely not happening any time soon.

Edit to add I am a SME in this field please feel free to ask any questions if I can answer them I will.

5 years, really? That's funny because I went to BNOC as recent as 2003 and I've never heard of such....Kinda funny also, because I was stationed at one of the largest RCF facilities in CONUS.

Where did you do your OSUT training at? How long was it? Why are you necessary considering that we already had Charlies?

I'm not trying to start crap, these are honest questions. Seeing that I wasn't some junior soldier, I'm perplexed as to why I've never heard of this.

I don't believe that's propaganda. I remember reading a report from someone who actually went to a FEMA camp as a volunteer to donate supplies, etc. and they were treated in a similar manner to the reporter you in the article you linked. If memory serves, I read it here, I'll try to track it down.

Here is the thread, and apparently there's been a rebuttal. Going to read that when I get a chance.

That has been pointed out and the link has been posted, but thanks anyway. What's new in the situation is that they are looking to fill new positions of that sort.
