I'm not real crazy about sad songs, but here are a few off the top of my head...

Breaking Benjamin - Rain

System of a Down - Lonely Day

Seven Mary Three - Lucky

Stone Sour - Bother (disclaimer: don't kill yourself)

Shinedown - 45

They make me sad at least...

Oh here's an oldie that I think is pretty sad.

The Shangri-las - Leader of the Pack

Okay, so after that submission it's unofficially official - this thread needs to come with a warning tag!!! And a box of Kleenex.

That's the best version I've heard of that song.

It really is right?

So beautiful, so sad.

Glad you liked it anyway.

Their version of "Knocking on heaven's door" from the "I'm not there" movie soundtrack is great too.

Enjoy (ok, maybe the wrong word for this thread....er.... endure
)

How about a sad sounding album?

Savatage's "Streets: A Rock Opera" is pretty sad sounding. Good album though. I especially like track 16, called "Believe".

Also, Luther Vandros's "Dance with my Father". That song makes me cry whenever I hear it, I think it's incredibly sad.

If I can think of any others I will post them.

Here's a trifecta from the same band. Heavier than most, but I feel the point is universal. I apologize in advanced in that no matter what I've tried, I am unable to link a direct youtube video. Any any rate, You're still one click away from the video.

Iced Earth-Melancholy (Holy Martyr)

www.youtube.com...

A song about jesus that isn't all sunshine and rainbows.

Iced Earth-I Died for You

www.youtube.com...

Sang from the wrong corner of a love triangle.

Iced Earth-Dracula

www.youtube.com...

Its based on bram stroker's dracula where he declares war on God for damning the person he loved to hell.

Enjoy.

I think I have a few for you
I love sappy songs, dont know why but I do.

Sade "By your side"

The Pretenders "I'll Stand By You"

Matchbox Twenty "Hang" its a live version since there was no real video for it. It was the last song on their first album and its one of my favorites!

Matchbox Twenty "If You're Gone"

There are some of my favorites. I also think anything by mariah carey in the earlier days would qualify for sad songs too..

"Time After Time" is a great song! Have you ever heard MB20's cover of it? They only did it at concerts, unfortunately out of the 10+ I attended they never sang it. I saw it on their Australian concert video and loved it!!
