What if 2012 is just one big engineered test?

What if we're not just a series of chemical accidents? What if we put here for a reason? 2012 may be just be one big test to prove ourselves, engineered by a higher power. I feel like Earth has already experienced 2012 many times over, each resulting in a failure. What if our purpose is to escape this vicious cycle? What if "they" are looking for something that they believe we are capable of discovering? Have we not found it yet? How do we break free and what awaits us on the other side of the rabbit hole? Time will only tell, however time is also running out.
