Police bomb squad and the FBI investigated a suspicious package Thursday found at the Charlotte airport in North Carolina that briefly shut down two concourses.

A "suspicious device" was found about 2 p.m. at Charlotte/Douglas International Airport, police spokeswoman Jean Wassenaar told The Charlotte Observer.

Concourses A and B were evacuated for about a half an hour, and the Transportation Safety Administration closed off the area where the device was discovered, according to the paper.

Passengers and others in the airport were reportedly allowed back in before 3 p.m., the Observer said.

Some passengers told the newspaper that there were flight delays and cancellations, though the FAA didn't report any.

Airport officials couldn't immediately be reached for comment. It wasn't known what type of device was found.
