The US military's top executive for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter has revealed new concerns about technical and cost failures facing the
programme's primary engine supplier.
The problems include too many individual blades that fail to meet specifications, as well as combined "stack-ups" of blades that fail early, he
says, adding: "I'm not satisfied with the rates that I'm getting."
lol wut?
first they kill funding for the alternative - and now , even more failures of the F135 are coming to light - mentioned elsewhere , the fan blade
problem is such , that they are expecting one of the prototypes to blow up with blade failure!

Since this plane is going to replace the F-16, F-15, F-18, Harrier, etc....
They damn sure better know that the engines will work!
It looks like the F-22 is starting to get axed or at least scaled back in favor of the F-35.
Does the F-22 use the F135 engine also?
EDIT
Looks like the F-22 uses the F119 engines.
Perhaps GE/RR deserves another look?

Another reason why the alternate engine should be continued.
