Nobody appears to be down with socialized health care, but what about pharmaceuticals? Public prescription drug R&D and sales would curb the corruption and inflated costs we have today? Private drug companies have been raping citizens long enough! It's quite possible they are guilty of even worse behavior? Would you really be surprised if you discovered proof of them directly spreading and creating disease? Just look at SSRI type drugs and the drastic increase in mental health disorders? Depression, ADD, ADHD, anxiety disorders, panic attacks, etc...

www.naturalnews.com...
(NaturalNews) Recently, a couple of Federal Budget Analysts from Washington, DC wondered about the profits in pharmaceutical drugs and came up with some interesting figures. Turns out that to purchase the active ingredients for many drugs is often pennies, while a hundred dollar plus price tag is passed on to consumers.

They found a 100 tablets of 20 mg Prozac runs the consumer about $247.47, while the active ingredients only cost $0.11. Yes, that's right. Eleven cents for all one hundred tablets. It's a 224,973 percent mark-up, a profit margin most business owners dream of - but could never get away with.

Even more profitable, Xanax customers regularly pay $136.79 for a hundred 1 mg tablets, while the active ingredients cost just under three cents. The mark-up is an unbelievable 569,958 percent.

What significant health benefits have we had from all the advances in medicine over the past 50 years? Infant mortality rate is declining in the US? Major illnesses are increasing, as well are new diseases? No real progress in heart disease or cancer, while diabetes and mental health are blowing up? So are serious diseases in children? Maybe this is no accident? Maybe there's just too much incentive to not cure disease, so much that encouraging it has become too tempting?

www.whale.to...?
After a glance at the medical records covering the past 70 years of what boastfully called "our great strides of medical science" we can hardly help wondering if those seven league strides haven’t been in reverse, because there a marked decline in our nation’s health and a shocking increase in the killer diseases during those very years. The acute diseases that were to have been conquered by vaccination have only been masked and "save face" or suppressed until the retained poisons corroded the internal organs and developed into dangerous chronic diseases.

The following table gives us an idea of what our present faulty methods are doing to our race:

INCREASE IN KILLER DISEASES DURING THE PAST 70 YEARS....
Insanity increased 400%
Cancer increased 308%
Anemia increased 300%
Epilepsy increased 397%
Bright’s Disease increased 65%
Heart Disease increased 179%
Diabetes increased 1800% (In spite of or because of insulin)
Polio increased 680%

Never in the history of this country have preventable diseases flourished with such wild abandon, continuously being fed by the very drugs and commercialized irritants that set them into operation in the first place.

When illness becomes one of the most lucrative businesses around, maybe it should be a little more scrutinized? I'd like to make it clear that I am firmly against big government and socialism of any kind, but if big pharma is permitted to go unregulated I'm for anything that puts an end to its profit capability? The American government has made a mockery out of capitalism. Legislators have abused and ignored free enterprise and all that it stands for! They keep crying for reform when all we need is regulation!

I am well aware of what's lacking in our economic system, but nobody is even talking about that? Governments failure to perform their minimal role in keeping the system fair has allowed total corruption of it. If we must do everything backwards then I say F it! You want to socialize something do it to prescription drugs? Hell, if they brought insurance premiums and drug expenses down near reality there would be no need for the rest. Let's not forget the $billions given to policy makers by lobbyists! Can you imagine how much money could be saved by making those things fair?

The problem with socializing the drug industry is that no new good drugs would ever be produced.

Government sucks balls at effective research and they don't care about who gets hurt in process since they can't be sued into bankruptcy. They would pay out on the tax payer dime, if at all.

Big pharma needs to burn in hell, but socialization is not the way to go about it.

If we had a real competitive drug market instead of this fascist monopoly we have now, drug prices would be cheap and drugs would be far more effective.

I think some tax payer dollars going into public research for diseases that do not have a mass market would be good, but over all, I think the prescription drug problem can be easily solved with a dose of good capitalism.

Sorry but you are completely wrong about government sucking balls on effective research and development.. Look at USA history.. Look at who started the "Research and Development Race".. Dont follow the "Government is bad, inneficient is all it touches".. If USA is currently the main world power on R&D that it is, you can thank government and its funding of Universities and Research Centers..

It was them that helped your companies and firms innovate a be competitive.. Of course now you dont see that, given that competitiveness gives the ability to pursue innovation alone.. But that is changing also.. Research about Open Innovation.. You might learn something..

Deny Ignorance..

This is also a flawed statement. That may only apply to non life essential things like a computer for example. Governments all around the world still conduct big research on healthcare and drugs. One week ago, a center for research on nanobiotechnology was inaugurated on Minho, Portugal, being a partnership between Portugal and Spain.
The biggest health care related discoveries you heal still come from government funded institutions..
In fact it is completely the other way around.. Big Pharma does NOT want you cured.. they need you dependent on drugs that dont cure you but only lighten the impacts of the disease.. This way they cant profit more..

Im going to protest over and over again please go RAW foodist and become a green smoothie addict before its too late! Nature has provided us everything we need.

About time alot of people are awakening to the fact that every year diseases are getting worser and worser, and that you need to take a second look at what you put in your mouth that counts.

Why do you think they are pushing codex alimentarius at a time they know people are awakening to eat healthy from nature, where they are trying to stop people growing their own food. If enough of us awaken and get past the darkness window of time we will succeed.

If it does not sound too good atleast try eating raw food, juicing and green smoothies for a week or a month to see you go atleast, you will notice a significant difference. Steer clear of GMO fruits and veggies as they will give you allergies.

Government handing out pills hmmmm....

Something tells me if pharmaceutical companies could indirectly extort money from the public by way of government guns the current problem with too many people taking useless or dangerous drugs would only increase. We'd be paying for the pleasure of being poisoned not just from risk of running up credit dept or paying the gap in ahuge deductible but now at risk of going to jail as per any gov bill not paid.

Plus if pharma and gov were working so closely what's to stop them from disseminating blanket prescriptions "for out own good" into the food and water supply? Sure, they do that now but to legitimize it would reduce any opposition to a faint whisper. Lord knows too many people live with the "if government says it's okay it must be okay" philosophy.

On the other hand, many large pharmas will give you free drugs if you cannot afford them. And that includes some very expensive drugs for cancer, etc.

I don't believe this is true.

Big Pharma has been sucking down tax payer dollars at record rates and they have few actual cures to show for it. What we are debating is the rate at which new medicine is produced.

With the current federal restrictions and subsidizing of drug research OF COURSE all the new drugs will come from universities and government run research centers. This is what must change in order to achieve cheaper and higher quality drugs.

The massive restrictions on new drug research have to be removed and the government subsidies to these research centers should be stopped for all drugs that have the potential for a market.

Private research centers would spring up overnight and competition would drive the creation of new drugs as well as drive down the cost of new drug prices.

The reason why drug prices are so out of control is because of government basically running the drug research operations.
