amazing technology that will be of great benefit after a huge disaster. with all the talk of 2012 and disasters, maybe these satellites will be well used in the next few years!!

Hope the predictions about the Solar Flares dont come true though, or these babies could be rendered useless after a big solar storm!!

Major satellite launches cannot be done without someone noticing, so cover stories are always invented for them. Most satellites I've heard about have military purposes, but of course they can double for other uses. I only mention this here because I have read so much from insiders on the PR that surrounds space programs. The chance that any given news release about a space launch will be true and complete just isn't that good.
