Actually they guesstimated this year that its because of nanoflares.
Scientists are changing their mind constantly. They seem to come up with the most likely explanation based on the assumption that the sun is nuclear. What if its not? Then they come up with some other explanation for it. But they are just picking a explanation that fits our current understanding.
I think the video you posted is interesting and makes a lot of sense personally.
