Military To Work With FEMA During Swine Flu Pandemic

Swine flu is a joke! Swine flu is the real deal! I'm not taking a vaccine!

All of these expressions of people....DOESN'T MATTER. It's not the point.

The point is the fear many have been trying repeatedly raise--it's an excuse for the government/military to impose more power over the citizenry. That's the real issue that needs to be debated.

More proof in the corner of conspiracy theorists asserting martial law by the military is the endgame:

According to a CNN report, the military will assist civilian authorities in the event of a significant swine flu outbreak in the U.S. this fall, stoking fears that the pandemic, which has claimed relatively few lives so far, will be used as an excuse to implement martial law and a mandatory vaccination program.

“The plan calls for military task forces to work in conjunction with the Federal Emergency Management Agency. There is no final decision on how the military effort would be manned, but one source said it would likely include personnel from all branches of the military,” states the report.

The proposal, which was drawn up by U.S. Northern Command’s Gen. Victor Renuart, is awaiting final approval from Defense Secretary Robert Gates. The first step would be to sign an “execution order” which would authorize the military to begin detailed planning on how to implement the proposal, before actual orders to deploy military personnel are given.

The amount of troops required or whether they would come from the active duty or the National Guard and Reserve forces has not yet been determined.

Northcom has been preparing for mass flu pandemics for years and indeed, Gen. Victor Renuart spoke of the threat of a flu pandemic emerging out of Mexico just weeks before it actually happened.

I saw this big story splashed on the Fox news site this afternoon, but now looking for it on cnn and fox, the story us buried. WHY? Also, just after that was posted, there was a live breaking report from the CDC regarding the vaccines. That too is not easy to find at this point. WHY?

Checking and rechecking the BOB's? You're probably right.

I also wonder why there is no mention on armynews.com?

The military, as they would for a natural disaster or other significant emergency situation, could provide support and fulfill any tasks that civilian authorities could not, such as air transport or testing of large numbers of viral samples from infected patients.

Or provide support for mass mandatory inoculations, forced quarantines, disarmament, etc.

I'm going to laugh when this fall/winter flies by and no one is dying except those who got the damn vaccine. Maybe laugh IS NOT the right word, but you know what I mean.

Im not sure if you know this but the Navy was mixed up with the original out break here in the US and Mexico due to there influenza testing program ran in conjunction with CDC and Navy. The first child found ill here in the US was a US Navy child and was tested at the US navy medical hospital in San Deigo California. The same place a Navy Medical reasearch ship Had 50 sailors quartined due to swine flu outbreak.

So them talking about the military taking steps now to help with the pandemic means they have more than just testing and treating in mind.

The only thought I have right now is how fast can I get a job, get a few bucks and buy a gun and all the ammo I can get, which probably isn't much.

I won't take the vaccine. I live in a city, though, which will most likely become a quarantine zone.

Life, it seems, is going to get real interesting in the next couple of weeks.

Sounds like there having a conference on preparing for war rather than swine flu. And im pretty sure these are some of the things FEMA wants the US military to help with.

I am thankful our military and FEMA are coordinating efforts should we have a catastrophic situation.

Does anyone remember when Katrina hit New Orleans? I do. FEMA and the military were criticized for doing too little too late. It was because of either poor or no planning.

FEMA and our Military is damned if they do something and damned if they don't.

I'm sure those women who were raped in the coliseum in New Orleans would have been very thankful to have had a military presence there to protect them.

There is no police department in any decent sized city in the USA that is large enough to protect it's citizens in a disaster.

The military will not even be able to take care of everybody.

Of course I am a supporter of the Armed Services. My dad was a WW2 veteran as well as all four of my husbands, three of which are dead now due to service related illness.

People need to get their heads out of the clouds and do the math and some deductive reasoning.

IF

the virus mutates into a really virulent one that passes easily from person to person; then all of this planning will be put to good use. Every resource will be taxed to the limit in that situation.

I believe that this worse case scenario is what they are planning for. That is a good thing.

Unfortunately, the problem with having all this in place is that if the worse case scenario does not actually materialize there will be a strong desire amongst some groups to use it anyway!

That is the risk that we/you in the US face. Especially given that the vaccine is not fully tested.
