Scientists Back Superstorm Film

" Despite government pressure on NASA not to support the scenario in The Day After Tomorrow, scientists are backing the science behind the film. The part of the film most of them object to has to do with the compression of events that they think will happen gradually. Marine physicist Tim Barnett says, "What happens will frankly be worse than what they show, in the long run. Our lives and all our systems will get stretched and stretched and pushed and pushed. The conflicts that will come up will be remarkable." Andrew Bridges quotes oceanographer William Patzert as saying, "�Perhaps it's an opportunity to crank up the dialogue on our role in climate change." "

what's the system that they talk about? our bodies?

The reason scientists are ridiculing it is that the baseline theory (good science) gets taken to ridiculous lengths. It's like saying "if you turn a microwave oven on, the radiation will reach out and cook your dog in the living room."

The claim that they support it in spite of NASA attempts to discredit it is false. I have friends who are scientists and some who have published some controversial research. NASA doesn't have the power to do this... if any agency was trying to shut it up, it would be Bush's EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) or NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Agency.)

So... those reports are not correct. It's being blasted for being Bad Science... like 10.6 was.

There are quite a few scientists in fields that relate to rapid climate change, that think something very similar is possible, then again you just have to look at the "pentagon weather nightmare scenario" and you will see that it is not as ludicrous as you make it sound.

Althou is very unlikely that it will happen as fast as it is portrayed in the movie, which I have stated before, many scientists of different but related fields think rapid climate change is very likely to happen.

Second, the Atlantic conveyor current is nothing like a microwave... your analogy is very bad science and shows how little you know about it.

BTW i think that the systems that Barnett referred to are the social systems among other things, he mentions there will be conflicts because of this, which is also part of the pentagon weather nightmare scenario.

The movie doesnt come out till the 27th of this month, it looks good though
