Popular Science recently published its own list of "Five Human Achievements That Could Top Walking on the Moon." Pretty cool list too.

1. A Manned Mission to Mars
Ever since the moon landing, humans (including those who've walked on the moon) have looked past the moon to Earth’s next closest neighbor: Mars. Travelling to Mars is of course vastly more difficult than travelling to the moon, but if anything can become a worldwide moment as Apollo 11 did, it would be humans walking on another planet for the first time.

2. The Discovery of Alien Life
Part of what made the Apollo mission so awe inspiring was that looking back at a unified, fragile planet adrift in a cold and terrifying void made us reconsider who we were as a species, and our species’ place in a vast universe. The discovery of alien life, even if that life amounts to nothing more than a string of protein or some nucleotides, would undoubtedly prompt that same kind of introspection about the role of life in the cosmos.

3. Full Nuclear Disarmament
Nuclear weapons vexed the conscience of science since before they even physically existed. Eliminating them would not only greatly reduce the chance of mass human catastrophe in the world, but allow science to atone for one of its most divisive creations.

4. Free Energy
The cost of energy, especially energy derived from fossil fuels, feeds into a wide range of problems around the world--foremost of course being the gradual destruction of the environment. Finding a clean, nearly free source of energy would drastically alter the dynamics of the world system--politically, socially and economically.

5. Cure For HIV/AIDS
Just as the space program was forming, another historic scientific project began that some would argue had an even greaterimpact: the eradication of smallpox. And just as smallpox once ravaged the globe, so has HIV devastated the people, economy and society of Africa and drastically altered the sexual culture of the Western world and. A cure or vaccine for HIV would no doubt rank as a scientific achievement on par with the eradication of smallpox, and bring about a celebration to rival that which accompanied the moon landing.

So how about your list of 5?

Can we get the free energy from the ET people? I thought personally that someone, somewhere had been given to understand magnetic zero point energy.

Will they step forward please?

I'll bet you'd make a good chunk-of-change with the 2013 Mayan calendar idea!!

With the exception of the nuclear disarmament, the others have supposedly already been done.

1) Mars mission - Jumproom To Mars - secret space program, Richard Hoagland's research etc.

2) Aliens - they discovered us, not the other way around. Many would argue they created us, that we are a sort of hybrid. A genetic experiment transcending our concept of time itself.

3) Disarmament - n/a

4) Free energy - already been done, already been reverse-engineered. Tesla for example had a fully-working electric car that ran off a wireless receiver, Tesla referred to this enegy as tapping into the 'ether'. JP Morgan shut the thing down and had it destroyed. Other examples include Otis Carr and Ralph Ring (featured on ATS a while back).

5) Cure for AIDS - Already exists, and has done so since 1997.. there is even a patent number for it: #5676977. Look up Dr Boyd Graves and you will find out that AIDS was conceived in a lab in the early 70s and released into Africa with the smallpox vaccine via the WHO as a means of curbing the anticipated population growth problem, whilst also seeding it in the NYC gay community as a scapegoat to avoid suspicion.

See, we humans (with the exception of the nuclear issue) have already achieved these things. The thread premise in my opinion, is bunk. To convince the masses to keep believing in dreams that are supposedly unattainable - to maintain the myth and secrecy. As cruel irony goes, we are scoundrels for not disclosing the truth about such 'great achievements'.

Another cure for AIDS, as well as any other thing caused by disease inducing pathogens including cancer was found to be electrifying the blood.
