Have you ever been Homeless?

This thread is kind of related to another thread that I was just doing a bit of reading on....here are some sobering statistics for those who think that homelessness is only due to drug addiction.

Like Antar, I was homeless for a bit as a teen...
I ran away at age 14, lived on the streets of Toronto for a bit, before ending up at a youth center there.
I'll mention it was January, and freakin cold.
I slept in malls, snuck into apartment building hallways,kept warm over subway vents,and hung out at all night restaurants.
It's hard to stay away from the darker side of street life, and I came close, very close to crossing the line..but didn't.
Admittedly, I stole food from stores. It was that or starve.Not proud of it, but I paid my karmic debt many times over donating to food banks.
Being homeless is scary....alone I can do it..with kids..never again.
