If I were in America, I would just stay. If things fail completely, eventually things would get back to normal, just like they did after the Civil War and Great Depression. Things may get tough for a while and America may not be the tog dog on the block anymore, but that'd be good for the country. Americans could start focusing on America again, as other countries would have to start taking care of themselves, and it would be good for Americans to get a reality shock. It would put their priorities straight and make them realize they have to work for stuff instead of the government just handing them stuff.

Yeah, if we're lucky all those losers will end up fleeing the country yipppppeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!! Darn mouchers serves them right if they die!!!!!!!!!!!
Also I beleive it will be a good thing for Americans to, to have this collapse. Everybody who doesn't do hard back breaking work will find out just how tough it is to be the middle class slave labor that hold this country together and they may either perish themselves or be looking for us to lick their wounds, Oh well, you know what I'd say to them??? HAHAHA, DO IT YOURSELF!!!! Or Jump off a building!

Oh, there are Americans who are entirely grounded in reality and who understand very well. I'm one of them, and I dare say that a good 80 million or so other Americans understand the situation perfectly well.

Nobody is going anywhere.

Perhaps 300 or 400 years ago, when there were still properties unclaimed by Western Civilization, you could run away to start your own country... Oh, yeah... We did that, from scratch. Beat the hell out of the aborigines and claimed the continent for ourselves. Welcome to humanity on planet Earth, that's the way we conduct business.

But today, you don't have a convenient escape route. There are no vast, unclaimed frontiers — we're an overpopulated planet, full of restless malcontents who think they want things to change, but they don't know why or how. There are those who welcome the change, those who fight the change, and those who run and hide from the change.

But now there's no place to run away and hide. All spaces are taken, friends.

So we're left with the two options: Welcome Change or Fight Change. And perhaps a third option... Welcome Change and then Work to Destroy It from the Inside.

I'd stay put tight here. First of all, if the US collapses then expect a domino effect to cascade across the globe. You saw a preview of that with the 2008 financial crisis. No place would be spared and the same problems would be experienced globally.

I look at this way - IF the US failed, that simply means that the government fails and the currency fails. So what!? That's probably a good thing. It would be like having the shackles removed once and for all. We would finally be free again! Then I could begin to live the kind of life that I want for my family and myself - free from government intervention and harassment. And as far as the "Chaos and anarchy" that people fear? Yeah, there woudl be some but I'm prepared and so are thousands of others. I'd actually expect to see more of a post 9/11 type of environment where people are working together and helping one another out. In short, a much better world!

I so agree there!!!

second line.

I don't see how anyone could afford to travel anywhere if the s*** hits the fan. I'll probably be stuck here. If I could go elsewhere it would have to be where English is spoken as I am not good with other languages. In any case, I think if the US falls, other countries will be coming down with us. Or.. who knows, maybe things will somehow turn around.

Wow deja vu almost! I was thinking yesterday about creating this EXACT thread! Good job lol

I've been thinking of a Socialist country with nice weather. I haven't started searching much yet. My wife moved here from Africa 10 years ago and it has taken 6 months for me to even MENTION moving out of America! [Obama's health care was the tipping point, FYI]

I look forward to people's responses to your query!

An alternate thread idea could be, If America divides what part of the states would like to go to/stay in?

Well-spoken, intelligent, and arrogant does not always mean you're right. The condescending answer that people who want to leave the U.S. are not grounded in reality is, in my opinion, way off base.

If you can't think of any option besides what you listed, maybe you should step back and recognize that you have the freedom to do anything or go most anywhere you like.

I am perfectly free to go run a small bakery in Costa Rica, for example, and likely be far happier than I am in the selfish world of Unrestrained Capitalism.

It won't matter if USA falls; before the dust would settle there would be a new government/union, new monetary system already in place. Of course it will take a while for the average citizen to find out about this.

'Sides I'm a redneck, 4wheeldrive, guns, ammo, bow, and an oltimer's knowledge of great things to eat in the woods. I'll just sit tight rite here or at most head to higher ground for better hunting.

I agree completly Doc.
One thing I would add to all the rest, if America goes so does the world.
It would be a free for all to all agressor nations. Any nation with abundant resources would be under attack in the largest land grab ever.

You hit the nail on the head. Why run away? Why go anywhere? Why expend the money and fuel and effort? Why is relocating such an imperative?

Look, it doesn't matter where you are. We're going global, you're already under the umbrella, you're already on the grid, so there's no way in hell you are going to extract yourself and go scampering away into the undergrowth to begin your life anew, off-line.

There's nowhere to hide, which means you're cornered. You know what happens when animals are cornered, right

Good Evening,

The Canadian Mountains are beautiful and majestic. They are not to be trifled with. If you do choose to abandon your home for Canada, I would suggest you bring warm clothes extra survival gear and bear spray.

Thanks for reading.
..Ex

Actually I'd leave the bear spray behind. Lots of people take bear spray and bear bells into the woods to drive away bears. Where I work we have a story we tell the new guys on how to tell the difference between black bear and grizzly bear droppings.

Black bear droppings are piles and contain berry bits.

Grizzly droppings smell like bear spray and contain bells.
_______________
I had a black bear come about 30 feet from my truck recently, I popped off a bear banger and he didn't run more than 5 feet further away. I put a flare at his feet and he still didn't run away. The term bear watch is a necesity in the mountains, Grizzlies have been known to attack loan workers if they are hungry. We have wolves, Lynx, bears, and coyotes all of which are dangerous and will eat you if they are hungry or you appear sick or weak. On the prairies they have coyotes and wild ferral dogs both of which are known to take individuals or children.

Thanks for the reply!
Nice to see at least one person is not afraid of hard work anyway!
And one who likes a clean room, good water and good food as pay.

I hope it doesnt come to that for all of us.
Some already work only for this!
Not all are this way in the land of the greed!
They refuse to cooperate and pull their weight.
Hence the predicament we're in!
We have had it easy for too long.
Peace, love and all good to you!

this is an interesting set of opinions on here about where ppl would choose to go, if they even did....me....i dont have anything of monetary value except maybe my computer lol but obviously that would be getting thrashed and stonped (by me) and or sold and id keep my art....why the south america? because it is a truly beautiful place...other than the venomous species of animals aside lol but why not south america the cost of living would be great and you could find something down there very nice for something that would cost you 3 times as much here....but...of course that would only be if there wasnt a possibility of something drastic occuring then of course id be staying right where i am....i love america and would give my life in a split sec for my family and close friends that aside...right now i feel im in a relitively good location and dont plan moving anywhere.....got everything i need....a good woman and a kid on the way!

This is funny, IF Americas goverment collaspes, other nations who are strong are going to do one thing..... March in there troop and carve a niche out of America. And if it does happen how the hell you going to get to Europe or Asia Re-build the mayflower? No nation will except American Refuges on there own soil. This is one heavily armed camp you better make nice with the local street gangs, bikers, militais cause you will need friends.... Then again if it was going to happen I think it already would have.

Star for the logical thinking.

As for the thread, America will never be turned into such a place. Unless some massive nuclear strike were to annhilate half the world. Or a large meteor were to strike, or some super volcano were to erupt, etc., etc,...

Othern than the small percentage one of these incidents were to happen, the economy will flutter, depress and rebound like it always does. As long as people are willing to work, their will be some form of economy...

The greatest delusion of all by Americans is that if the US goes down, the whole world will go down with it.

The destruction of Babylon or Rome did not end all life on Earth.
When the British Empire broke up, the rest of the world did fine afterwards.
When the USSR collapsed, the rest of the world did just great then too
When the US empire self destructs, the rest of world will hardly even notice.

The rest of us are not planning for martial law, or building FEMA prison camps. The violence and chaos that is about to break out in the US will not happen anywhere else.

That will surprise many of you, but it is only Americans that are stocking up on guns and ammo to kill each other with. In most other countries we find all this fairly interesting, but it will not effect us in the slightest..
