are we heading for a repeat of the fuel protests that crippled the uk in 2000

it seems one of the ringleaders of the protests brynle williams from north wales is angry that petrol prices have again risen to the level which sparked the protests

Mr Williams, now a Conservative member of the Welsh Assembly, told GMTV's Sunday Programme he would not be involved in any direct action but would be lobbying Chancellor Gordon Brown to cancel planned increases in fuel duty

it seems the chancellor is pulling a fast one remember that the dollar is nowhere near as strong against the pound so the rise in petrol to $40 a barrel should little or no affect on what the uk pays for its fuel

remember barrels of oil are traded in dollars and if we got $1.23 to the pound in 2000 and we get $1.43 today the rise should not affect us so if they try to spring that on you do not accept it
