Microwave weapon will rain pain from the sky.

<<  1    2    3  >>

Topic started on 23-7-2009 @ 07:39 PM by refuse_orders

THE Pentagon's enthusiasm for non-lethal crowd-control weapons appears to have stepped up a gear with its decision to develop a microwave pain-infliction system that can be fired from an aircraft. The device is an extension of its controversial Active Denial System, which uses microwaves to heat the surface of the skin, creating a painful sensation without burning that strongly motivates the target to flee. The ADS was unveiled in 2001, but it has not been deployed owing to legal issues and safety fears.

New Scientist article.

I guess it was only a matter of time before they took this piece of kit airborne, you bet this one will be coming to a riot near you soon.

For those of you who don't know about ADS here's a clip of future weapons that explains it in a little more depth.

How sadistic do you have to be to dream up these weapons? "Hey! I gotta idea! Let's just microwave the little f@#%ers!"

I love how they are fitting it on to airplanes when they don't even technically know if it's legal to use. Someone must be lobbying for this lol.
Add that one to the list already containing un-manned bombers and corpse-eating robots!

Pfff... pathetic humans, think they are most intelligent species on the earth or something.

______________

Nice I've always wondered what it would feel like to get microwaved. Time to bring up the tinfoil, or some aluminum to reflect it back to them, I wonder how well they can fly the plane without any avionics.

Funny you should post this, when i have the very question.

Surely, they must BE PRACTICING.

I can't wait for the "built it yourself" kit to come out for these

Well, I think this is plenty scary. What the heck does a "gun" do against a tyrannical government that can fly airplanes around "burning your skin" with a microwave gun?

I really feel sorry for our enemies (not MY enemies, the US Government's enemies!). I also feel sorry for Gazans, as Israel is sure to steal this technology from us then do all the "field testing" on Arabs.

They are already ahead of you

In fact I think this might be the guy that invented it. You aught to watch the video about what he does. Pretty crazy dude.

There ya go though, there is your DIY microwave cannon.

Directed energy weapons are designed for confrontation, conflicts, etc... The mere fact that such a systems exists speaks volumes. Instead of using cent cheap bullets to resolve differences, we developed a billion dollar program. A program which seeks to be as "less than lethal" as possible. This specific systems dissuades people from unwanted activity, and also protects them from permanent damage as a result of such unwelcomed behavior. Furthermore, respect is earned, not entitled. And if your only concern is that getting "microwaved" is somehow not respectable, well, too bad.

Surely they are - and if this video was put out on YouTube in 2008 -
that would mean that they would have started practicing a long time ago.

We always find out about these things after we are damaged and someone
finally calls out the possibilities of how that happened...
ie: Vaccinating (testing) on the troops and other unsuspecting humans -
without them knowing what they are testing.
Oh - and the list goes on and on.
So - yea. They've been practicing.

Did you look at some of the other stuff on that site? Dude is a mad scientist.

There is a few things on that site that I would like to build. I bet once you got the formulas for the microwave cannon it wouldn't be that hard to scale them up.

Crazy stuff.

Microwaves do have severe limitations.

A Faraday cage negates not only lightning, but microwaves.

Note the fine mesh in front of your microwave window. It keeps the microwave contained.

The reverse is also true.

I ever have a microwave weapon used on me, there will be some stuff fried with homemade EMP's.

Unless I can find out where the operators are.
