There has been a lot of talk about the so-called New Age, so let's make some things a bit more clear:

(Alice) Bailey made extensive use of the term "New Age" in her books and some writers have described her as the founder of the New Age movement. However The New Age was used as the title of a Journal of Christian liberalism and Socialism, published as early as 1894, predating Bailey's use of the term.

James R. Lewis and J. Gordon Melton, in Perspectives on the New Age wrote:

"The most important—though certainly not the only—source of this transformative metaphor, as well as the term "New Age," was Theosophy, particularly as the Theosophical perspective was mediated to the movement by the works of Alice Bailey."

Sir John Sinclair, in his book The Alice Bailey Inheritance, commented on the seminal influence of Alice Bailey, which, he said, underlies the consciousness growth movement in the 20th century.

So, the modern New Age-movement is (in a way) an offshoot of Theosophical ideas:

Though Bailey's writings differ from the orthodox Theosophy of Madame Blavatsky, they also have much in common with it. She wrote about religious themes, including Christianity, though her writings are fundamentally different from many aspects of Christianity and of other orthodox religions. Her vision of a unified society includes a global "spirit of religion" different from traditional religious forms and including the concept of the Age of Aquarius.

So, the whole idea of "Age Of Aquarius" was invented by this same lady. This is core of all the upcoming hippie-eco-movements, even if these people don't actually realize it.

A lot of the modern stuff focusing on this area is just commercial crystal-weaving, self-help, "light" spiritualism. And that fits some people. Although, her writings (and the movement as a whole) holds a lot of deeper knowledge, which can be hard to attain for most common folks. This knowledge just "floats there", for anyone interested to grab. As most esoteric info does.

________

Also, about the 13 Moon calendar, which is straight linked to these subjects (believe it or not):

"It should be noted that the 13-Moon/28-Day calendar is a perfect solar-lunar measure; that is, it uses the even, regular lunar cycle of 28 days as the standard of measuring the 365-day solar cycle of the Earth. The balance of solar and lunar may also be taken as symbolic of human psychological characteristics and their balance or imbalance. A solar-lunar calendar will represent and reflect a balance of the solar-lunar, masculine and feminine qualities within the human being. It is important to bear in mind these considerations of calendars and their effect on shaping the human historical consciousness and its psychological makeup. From this perspective, history is, in fact, a process of falling away from the perfection of harmonic standards. "

Just tossing this out there, but the concept of "ages" based on the zodiacal system is not new, nor invented by this alice person.

That concept of the different eras being tied to the zodiac has been with us for a very long time.

Just look into historical events and you'll see the chain.

The christians using the fish as their symbology from the get-go, tied into pisces, the ram in the period before that. The bull in the period before that.

You could even go further back and tie the whole concept of adam and eve into gemini (the twins), AND the period before that being cancer... the crab.. which was originally known as the fortress. It's been shown in archaeology that during that very time period is when most of the megalithic structures started to sprout up.

Nope. That concept of "ages" is not new, and definitely not her idea. Maybe she tied things together and put it forward but.. hehe

Anyhow.. Just figured I'd add that into the discussion.

Yes, not the zodiac time cycle itself, but the concept and the meaning of the Age Of Aquarius. That's what I meant. Link fixed, btw

I'd like to bump this: this might just be the way to keep track of time in the future; the natural calendar. I think we should get into this harmonizing, spiraling system.

Valum Votan, "Closer of The Cycle" - final messenger of Pacal Votan's prophecy, prescribes the fulfillment of human destiny as a collective return to natural time via the synchronization of the 13-moon 28-day calendar. Using this harmonic, ancient, and accurate standard of measure, we make a whole-systems transition into conscious resonance with our living universe. In these intense times of uncertainty, we need all the navigational assistance possible for our everyday consciousness to be in harmony with Earth. The 13 Moon calendar helps us re-harmonize our bodies and minds to the natural patterns and cycles of the Earth and Stars.

Also, I'm not in any way associated with these people, and I don't even own the calendar. I just think this is important, and also closely related to the phenomenon of 2012. Seems very natural and healthy to me.

Problem is: there is no "lunar cycle of 28 days"

Lunar cycles on average take 29 days 12 hours 44 minutes and 3 seconds

But that's just an average. The length of the cycle varies due to several factors.

The idea that the lunar cycle takes 28 days is just a false common sense idea based in the fact that a week has 7 days, and 7 x 4 = 28.

Some people tend to believe that the lunar cycle takes exactly 4 weeks, but that's not true.
