Ok, to explain, take a look at what Zerbst said:

That, even at sites like ATS, the more crucial the issue, the less attention it receives.

I add to what Zerbst says in pointing out there’re just too many threads on ATS that go for the tabloid sicko topics and in my opinion it’s just to get attention, stars and flags.

From there I've noticed all too many times members, regardless of the quality of their post, get massive stars and threads because they have groupies.

Their threads could be the emotional levels of tapeworms in their dogs stool and still they’ll get massive attention while a thread on something pertinent to the ongoing health and welfare of the human race gets buried in the trash.

My problem with this is it takes it to the front page and makes ATS look bad and there are far too many tabloid-like forums out there for ATS to fall into the same trap.

So, IMO the star and flag system should be done away with, and people would have to post something significant if they want to support a thread, but that's just me, and a topic for the *business* part of the forums so I don't want to get off topic here.

Heh. Yeah more or less the same from me I'd say. A large amount of people who believe in pretty strange ideas (vampires, zombies and reptilians have all already been covered). It's been an interesting few weeks, there's been some coherent discussions and some way out tin-foil hat type thinking.

you are absolutely right. that is a good question. why does the govt not listen to we the people even on here. do you think they listen to us at all. i say our govt listens alot, but what they do to help is another story. look at katrina. im sure people still cleanning up from there can sure tell you of all the help our own govt gave them. next to none. it was we the people who actually came thru and helped them out alot thru charities and stuff. so yeah, i beleive this is a govt listenning area. it is my opinion. it may be right it may be wrong. do you actually know and talked to any of the people who own this site. no, you do not. neither do i. and yes you can look up stuff on here. lots of stuff that is stored here just look. why would they keep all that information, there is no purpose? does this fact alone raise a question in ones mind. peace.

Ok thank you silo13. I understand now what you were trying to say to me and others. Speaking for myself only, from what I've observed in the threads I've read, people are only seeking to understand things they arent sure of. Things they previously didnt know existed. I didnt know that people actually posted threads as you have described. I'm guessing a higher percentage of people truely do care about their fellow man. i agree , so with that said i think that we the peoples needs to get a hell of a lot more involved in things done here on our littlle planet earth. peace.

Most people have zero or less commonsense. Education has facilitated peoples ability to rationalize and cloud their judgment. People seem to find a way to believe what they want no matter how ridiculous and illogical it is.

I have learned that if you are NOT from the US, there is not much fellowship / camaraderie here at all, mostly all others are ignored by these grumpy republican fanatics, who's probably been brainwashed since childhood that all but republicans and the National Rifle Association are evil.

There is some open minded good people here who really want to search for the truth, but they are a minority and kept in silence by these inconsolable people.

I left the ATS before and will do so again now, this time I want come back.
Never felt so out frozen and ignored in a forum before like here,
I don't like ATS any more and what it has become now.

Firstly, Congrats on your first thread Magantice. Heres to many more in the future.

Since i first came to ATS, i was once a lurker (but now i'm in it), i have had a mixture of experiences.
I have heard from people who are "out there" to some pretty intelligent and informative people.
I have had the "Agro" person who doesn't like what i posted and the arrogant person who ignores 90% of what i have posted and just attacks the single part of the whole subject.
All in all though, my time here has been enjoying.

I believe, that on here, as in life, all types of people come together and communicate. Although we sometimes don't get along, as we should, this forum (And any other one) is like the world. Dissimilar intellects, ideas, backgrounds and time zones.
LOL yes time zones. It sometimes amazes me that i am talking real time to a person on the other side of the world, where as it is dark here the sun is shining brightly there. I am tired and they are wide awake.
So with all these differences we can develop ourselves to become more tolerant, respectful and helpful to all people in all parts of the world.

What better place to do it?
We can learn from them and they can learn from us.

Anyway Magantice, congrats again on your first thread, and best wishes for many more.

Very true, you would think by some of the female avtars on here that we have a load of attractive women or fairies here. Still we can be who we want to be i guess.

I have learned that humor can sometimes get lost in translation as I find many American members lack a sense of Irony and dry humor.

I have learned that homophobia and islamophobia are rife and will remain a big problem.

I am surprised with the amount of religious posts and those who still have blind faith.
I believe many of the more fantasy stories may related to the some disturbing childhoods, which i find sad.

It has made my beliefs stronger regarding War and strengthened my belief in Socialism (but not the type obama is bring to the US, that's not socialism)

I dont know if its good or bad, but I'v learned that I cant trust anyone.

For example - until I came here, I thought that I can trust NASA... Now I dont really care about what are they sayin... I dont believe that we are alone in universe like Vatican says we are...and for some reason all those lies from "big guyz" forced me to not trust anyone who is around me.

And I also learned that world is BAD, but that doesnt mean that there is no GOOD in which I believe in.

I've learned that theres so much going on politically, environmentally and socially all at once, behind the scenes/or in public view that it's very difficult or impossible to keep track of things on a deeper level.

I've also learnt that theres alot of bull crap out there, and people often come up with really stupid theories.

I have learned that the gateway of access to the divine, is in the realm of possible, and therefore, eventually, actual. I have learned that I can and will have a "noble death" and that everything is ok, and that it WILL work itself out, somehow, some way, one way or another, and that there is absolutely nothing whatsoever to fear, ever, in any way, shape or form.

I've learned that through the exchanges here at ATS.

Confidence, supreme optimism and peace of mind - that's what's come to me in the process.

In other words I've learned something of immense value. Thanks!
