You just have not gotten sick yet! Your provider will drop you like a stone at the first sign of major trouble. They will research every aspect of your past life to determine if you have ever lied to them. If so your screwed. American medical care is some of the worst in the world.

Why would anyone bite so hardily into these crooks lines? No were on Earth does medical care cost so damn much, and its sub standard to boot, unless you have good coverage that is.

Jesus, I really wish it was easier to move the hell out of this country.

I have great coverage. Had my arm operated on this year (x-ray equipment fell on it, loading it up to Iraq) pins, plates, all paid for.

My wife had major surgery last week, one reason why I'm home to write this, and she was all covered.

The problem (one of them, any ways) is that with Obama care, I lose my nice coverage. All gone. Bye. I get what you get, what the person across the street gets, what the person across the country gets. All except what the elite in DC gets.
Less coverage, more taxes, being told to wait, being denied care/treatment being told "tough, you're too old, go away and die" by some damn bean counter in DC is what is waiting for all of us if this passes.

Rock on dude, hope you never get sick. Because if you're old or if it is expensive, or if they misfile the triplicate paperwork, you're screwed. That's what is waiting for you and those of you that want this nightmare of a plan.
Hell, this passes, they might as well save money and sell garden hoses that fit the muffler of your car. Because that would be the easiest, cheapest, nicest way to go versus Obamacare.

Let me try and give a little insight to Canadian healthcare. Sure , some like to call it "free" healthcare. However, the amount of taxes that the average joe pays in Canada compared to most other countries is outgrageous. I pay about 45% of my salary to taxes. so how free is it really?

So, is your standard of living any lower than our US cousins as a result? Mine sure isn't

The wait times at any ER are horendous and the reason why is simply because it is "free". My wife is a nurse in ER and 75% of the people who come through ER are NOT emergencies. OOOH , my baby has a cough and a runny nose, OOOH I cut my finger, OOOOH I sprained my ankle. That is the problem you will face in the US if this "healthcare for all" bill is passed. Your hospitals will be overwhelmed.

And how much of that is due to neocon politicians...like Harper, but I'm thinking Mike "the knife" Harris who gutted our Ontario hospitals and fired nurses so he could give tax cuts to his rich cronies? How many certified physicians...immigrants...are driving cabs while the Medical Associations keep making it harder for them to set up practice in Canada?

And if there aren't enough GPs...the government sends patients to Emerg, instead.

Ours are different problems, and they are not inherent to Universal Health Care.

It's actually pretty easy. Just leave!

Even though I VOTED for Obama, I think this health care bill is IDIOTIC!

All we need are some price controls on the pharmaceutical companies (which will NEVER happen for obvious reasons -- with nationalized health care, the Feds will still pay the high prices and just print the money if they can't afford it), a national lawsuit limit or ceiling for doctors (here in Nevada it's something like $450,000, which is probably too low), and we need to stop giving free medical care to illegals!

First of all, I don't WANT or NEED health care... because, believe it or not, I'm ACTUALLY healthy.

Secondly, we already have socialized medicine in this country for the poorest of the poor.

Third, there is no question nationalized health care will reduce the quality of health care in general in this country.

They talk about "reform", but they aren't reforming anything!

It's so bloody stupid.

If I'm reading the bill correctly I could go to America to get free healthcare? Awesome lol

I agree with some points in this bill but it's still unacceptable because it doesn't solve the problems in the bigger picture.

I do not accept this system of government where people can only have a say in certain few side matters like healthcare and not major matters, such as how money is spent (secret budgets, military budgets, bailouts, etc)

The system needs to be investigated and overhauled by an completely civilian body, othewise the Military, Elite, and Royals will lord over us forever.

Where are the free vitamins with educational booklets, where are the lower prices for vegetables and fruits? Where are the family or reproductive incentives? Where are the uncorrupted scientists? Honest politicians or leaders? Organic food?

A world where the every person is free and has an investment in his or her future?

While you're arguing about how to successfully overhaul the health system never forget that you have to overhaul the government first, even at the cost of your lives just so your children's children will be born into a free world.

Behind the scenes, the people who planned this will profit tremendously down the road, and you will be paying for it, just as you are paying for 'security' and 'privilege' and 'rights'.

That list would make alex jones' head explode. Mine too if it actually makes it to law. Boggles the mind how much government control they can fit into one bill. I'm not sure it'll go down exactly as he comments it will but if even a portion of that were given the green light I'd be upset/freaked out.

Is it just me, or do obama's actions get more disturbing and revealing every day? Never thought he'd bother me as much as Bush.

Ding! Ding!

You got it, people don't seem to understand that the same people making the "reform" are the same people that screwed the system up so bad in the first place.

Before anything meaningful happens we have to "reform" the government.

American health care is ranked 37th in the world. Absolutely terrible. How, many of you are under the impression you have the best health care system in the world is astounding?

Wake up. Saying things over and over again doesn't make them true.

I really don't see how it is ranked 37th in the world. When people need care they go to the doctor.

The only thing that sucks about our health care is cost. The Quality is better than everywhere else.

Or you know you can take the UN's ranking as set in stone, because those guys don't have anything against us or anything.

The health care in this country is top notch. The only thing that sucks is the cost.

There is a good chance poor people will be treated terribly if they become sick or hurt in America. This bill will not help this problem. This bill will insure the middle class also recieve shabby treatment plus no one will be able to sue.

The poor need good clinics which help them avoid sickness and help them overcome illness. This can be done without giving idiotic beaurocrats any more money or power.

United States spends more than twice as much on each person for health care as most other industrialized countries. But it has fallen to last place among those countries in preventing deaths through use of timely and effective medical care.

Sounds great

You don't think with America having 300+ million people compared to other countries with at most having 75 million skews the results at all do you?

It's really comparing apples and oranges. socialized medicine doesn't hold a candle to the quality in America.

We can argue about this all day long but the fact is, people come from all around the world to see specialist that their socialized medicine won't cover or has denied them.

There are incompetent doctors and nurses in every system. There is no way to get rid of that.

PG 50 Section 152 in HC bill - HC will be provided 2 ALL non US citizens, illegal or otherwise

Just to say that in the UK, if anyone, foreigner or illegal immigrant finds themselves in a bad state, then the NHS won't turn them away. Y'know, cause adequate healthcare IS a basic human right, no matter how you slice it.

The only industrialized country in the world that doesn't cover all its citizens. It is ranked 37th in the world, it's sure proving how great is.

The US does great research and is one of the best, if not the best for innovative technologies, but what good is it, if its citizens don't all have access?

This argument is lame. It reminds me of when I was a kid and use to try to talk my parents into letting me do stuff they didn't want me to do and said well so and so is doing it.

Every citizen in this country is covered. If they get injured and need to go to the ER they get treated. If they need some other medical procedure done, they can work out a payment plan that is affordable.

In fact that is the reason why our costs are so high. And if they get this bill past and they socialize the medical industry people won't have access to the advanced treatment because they will ration care. Like they do in every other developed country with socialized care.

Amen! Well said.
Did you hear Bill O'reilly after the Obama speach?
"I have a masters degree from Harvard. I still do not know what
he is saying!" Basically, Obama is refusing to give specifics.
Obama is bloviating.

He stood up there for an hour and said I will give you a free lunch
and only the rich will pay for it.
It sounds really good but it fails the reality test.

I don't have a serious problem with most of those points. For the ones I *do* have a problem with, I wonder if the point is accurately described.

In particular, I have absolutely no problem with giving medical treatment to non-citizens, even illegals. I'd want to do it, on the grounds of compassion. However, even if you're a heartless b*****d, it make very good sense. As long as these people are in our country, they will pass their illnesses to us if they're not treated. In particular, tuberculosis is widespread in some regions, and immigrants can wind up bringing it here. Same with many other infectious diseases. Do you really want to deny treatment for these people, so they can spread their disease to you?

The only answer besides treating them is to deport every foreigner, legal or illegal. That would make our country a big lie, but that's been going on for eight years. I don't suppose closing our borders to *everyone* is necessarily beyond possibility. We might want to grind out all that stuff about "Give me your huddled masses..." from the Statue of Liberty, though.

To the OP: Using lots of txt-style shorthand makes your post more difficult to read. It would be nice if you took the trouble to spell out words like 4 and 2, and so on. Just a thought.

Everything about Obama fails the reality test. After this joker got elected it turned me into wanting people to take a test in order to qualify to vote.

He himself doesn't even know what is in the freaking bill, and he keeps saying the same stuff over and over again. I saved myself the pain of watching it, but I'm pretty sure he just re-iterated the same tired lies hes been using since day one.

He thinks he is forging an awesome legacy and he is doing the exact opposite he will be remember for all the wrong things.
