Are you serious? Obama is lying. Read the bill and the read the research people from this site and others have put together.

Private insurance will be phased out over the next decade. Private insurance will not be able to add new customers, if you do not have insurance your only option will be government. If you have private insurance and lose it your only option will be government. If you do not pay into the government system the IRS will fine you $2500. The government want access to your financial bank to take money out....Free healthcare for illegals? Free healthcare for people that dont even pay taxes?

Please quit supporting eugenics and tyranny. If i here one more person say how great their socialist medicine is I am going to vomit.

Berlesconi came to the United States to have his heart worked on. Why didnt he stay in italy? Bin laden came here for treatment. Canadians come here for treatment. Europeans come here for treatment.

A 22 yr old kid was left to die because he hadn't been sober for six months.(europe) They deemed his liver transplant a bad investment so he died.

your job, or simply want to change insurance companies, you'll not
be able to do so, because insurance companies will be prohibited from
taking on any new customers as of Y1 (Year One) that this new
legislation goes into effect. The only option available will be the
Government Run Health Insurance plan.

It is even worse than that. If anything changes in your private plan you will be forced to switch to the government public plan. Anything includes simple rate changes or some adjustments to your coverage.

This is how they plan to slowly get rid of the private plans.

Deceitful and devious!

What is the point of all this? Is this to save money or what? I still haven't heard why Obama is going all bitch cakes about the health care system.

From what I have read on the subject Obama is doing what Clinton failed to do during his first administration. And to be honest I hope that Obama fails in this too.

The plan will cost too much, and won't do much for the American people. There is a way to really give universal healthcare to every American without running up more taxes or short changing anyone. In fact it would use already existing medicare/medicaid as a benchmark whereas they would be the universal healthcare that everyone needs. But it would allow that people who wish to do so could get their own private insurance as well.

What they don't say is that disabled veterans that make over $20,000 a year will have to pay for there own health care.

Many vets that are getting 80 to 100% service connected disability checks a month will have to pay for health care insurance from there disability checks.

This way the government no longer has to pay for the injuries that were cause by military service.

This is only the first step in eliminating the VA health care system completely.

This is the same VA health care system that the government tot there horn about it being one of the best health care systems in the US.

Those Veterans making less then $20.000 will get subsidized health care insurance and be treated by doctors that have no training in veterans health problems like agent orange disorders. traumatic brain injuries. blast injuries.

This will lead to veterans getting substandard care by doctors the don't understand or don't care.
It will also lead to fewer veterans getting service connected disorders detected because the out side doctors will not understand or care that the disorders are service connected.

You don't believe this will happen.
Just look at what happened in the UK Canada and Australia when they went to a national health care system.
They did away with there veterans health care systems within a few years as being unneeded.

I am not currently insured. I do however stash money away for that time I need a trip to the ER or the doctors. I doubt it would be enough for anything major, but I would much rather spend the rest of my life paying off a medical debt than be dead because the treatment was no longer available.

With that said, here are my two cents on this;

I loathe this plan because it includes further government invasion of my privacy. I enjoy my privacy, I don't want the government to have direct access to my medical records, bank accounts or heck, I wouldn't even let them look at my coin collection. These are all private things that the government has no business sticking their nose into.

I loathe this plan because it removes my choice to be uninsured. I have ever right to bank money away for any medical problems that arise & the government has no business telling me I must be insured, that I must pay my money for a plan controlled by a government agency. Sorry, but I wouldn't trust you with the health of a plant, let alone the health of my children.

I loathe this plan because it will add stress to an already strained economy. Unemployment is rising to new highs. Small businesses are barely staying afloat & even the smallest of additional expense will send many of them under for good. This will raise the unemployment rate even higher, thus making the tax role even smaller than it already is.

There are many problems, but these are the things I take issue with the most.

If the government was really interested in fixing our health care system, there are much better ways to approach it. Fixing the fraud and lawsuit crap alone would save billions a year in cost.

And for anyone who wants to see how a government run health care program looks right here in the US, take a look at NY's Medicad/Healthy NY insurance system.

Cost of the Medicad program: 44.5 billion
(this figure is for state funds only, each county contributes large amounts in addition to this figure)

Cost of Medicad Fraud: over 4.5 billion

Cost of Healthy NY Programs: 317 million
Child Health Plus, Family Health Plus
(can't seem to find real figures on this. could only find administrative costs)

As you can see, my tax dollars are already paying for a state version of this pile of crap & let me tell you, it sucks.

I'm sorry, but Mr. President, my pocketbook is not your piggie bank. Keep your hands out fo my money dang it!

There are only two ways America will be abale to afford this healthcare plan. Deficit spending or taxes. The bottomline is Americans can sit there and banter back and forth until they are blue in the face about how healthcare is a right, or the children will die without universal healthcare etc but IT'S TOO EXPENSIVE to give Americans all the same level of coverage. I could go on and on about why healthcare is expensive i.e. from doctors, hopsitals to government to private insurance companies etc. But that doesn't matter.

Healthcare is a prodcut like anything else. It just happens to be a product in which human lives depend on very much. Nobody has a right to food and we can all say food is much more of a basic need than health care. The acquisition of food is a financial transaction just like the acquistion of healthcare. Some people can afford to eat prime rib and lobster tail every night and others have to be reduced to eating rice and soda. But America has made it clear no one will starve in this country. The same should be applied to healthcare. All I see government run healthcare doing is bringing everyone up to the same level of coverage as everyone else. For their program to even break even they HAVE to take some of the healthcare from those who have good coverage and give to those who don't. That's the bottomline. That is immoral, unconstitutional and unAmerican in my opinion.
In the end we need LESS government in healthcare not more. And any government that is involved with healthcare should be at the state and local level. The probelm is people never seem to realize WE DO HAVE LOCAL AND STATE GOVERNMENT.....we don't always have to rely on Federal government. This is all one big power grab! It's all about control.

I hope it passes and I hope it's one more nail in our coffin. Screw the way America is right now. It needs to fail in order to rebuild it. If it doesn't kill us it will only makes us stronger. It might hurt be once we've been torn down as a country we CAN rebuild and hopefuly that will entail getting rid of big brother government.11

Oh yeah F U Obama! You're a socialist totalitarian PUTZ! I hope you choke on a chicken wing you f'@#K.

"........Obama specifically said that his plan is for the 46 million who have no health insurance right......"

Actually that was what Hillery Clinton stated back when ole bill was in and when she first introduced it.

Regardless of whether you believe it or not, it's true. Illegals WILL have access to Obama's health plan.

Can you imagine all the illegals flooding into the U.S. to get free health care!.
Besides, whats a 100 million red blood Americans compared to Illegals anyway according to POTUS.(sarcasm).

Another thought came to mind was BABY BOOMERS, perhaps they are trying to get rid of the baby boomers(I'm included), and that since when ole bill was in, they wrote IOU's for Social Security fund and never replaced it.

No, I will never accept this bill, as i see it, if it passes, i will go when my times up. what everyone needs to do is learn to practice Family First Aid.

As far as our brothers to the north......every Canadians have their own point of view and i respect that, although we need a health care bill, this is not it, i hope you understand.

my two and a 1/2 cents worth.

Maybe if states were able to print their own currency they wouldn't even need Federal government for anything. LOL.

The media has done a wonderful job of hype for American healthcare. Just like swine flu, the system we have now, kills baby kittens, and causes Satan to emerge regularly.

Why should I have to choose, period? I like what I have, most Americans do.
The government hates what we have. It does not give them the control that they want. Hence, the change. . .

Most companies (like mine) have you re-enroll after 12 months. At that time you would get bumped and have to take the government plan.

You won't even have a choice to choose. It will either be the government plan or no plan. There won't be a private insurer left if this bill passes.

When they said this made private insurance illegal, all they had to do was add "de facto" in front of it and it would be the complete truth.

This health care bill sucks royally.

Then you know what will becoming a few years into it. Oh we have to pass this legislation to make up for the short falls in the first bill we passed, then who knows what will be in that one.

Sucks, is what I say.

Same here. That is such a scary thought.

I sure in the hell do not want the government involved in my personal life especially in my healthcare.

Oh, and those complaining about the wording of the list I posted.....Get over it and read the actual healthcare bill for reference. I posted a link to the actual healthcare bill in the OP.

The reason the wording from the list I posted seems abbreviated with bad spelling is because Peter Fleckstein made the list via twitter. Since you can only send 140 characters at a time, he had to do some editing.

The CBO (when they aren't being pressured by the White House) looked at what the plan would cost. We are looking at 230 Billion AFTER the first year. The ONLY way they can pay for that is to print more money or lower their definition for 'rich' to include anyone making over minimum wage [sarcasm, but not much]

I have a health plan now, but I'm willing to pay out of pocket and screw all of it if it keeps the government out of my bank accounts. My wife is a nurse, we have docs as friends, hell, we'll barter services!

Don't worry, under Obama's plan you will die slowly but not in pain because he specifically mentioned that instead of you getting the life saving treatment, they will feed you all the pain killers you need until you die.

I don't mean to make light of your condition but I just wanted to point out how ridiculous Obama's plan is.
