There IS a very Greek sound (to my ear, at least) in the melody...but, yes...it is different.....I'm not that musical, so........count me as 'ignorant" ....well...even worse.....in that arena.

I suppose the Greek sound is the one that sounds like Portuguese guitar (I don't know if they used a Portuguese guitar).

This is good example of how it sounds.

Love the video you put up with the Greek sound, it reminds me of a man I knew from Peru who played a 12 string guitar, his playing was magical and every time I heard him it brought tears to my eyes.

This is a comment on youtube:

A little background on the story: Helme is the lover of a girl named Rosa, who was forced to marry José Santos. During her husband's travels, the two lovers meet at her house. One night Santos returns early from a trip, knocks on the door, kicks it down and brutally murders Helme and Rosa. The song is Rosa's lament just before the tragedy.

The Portuguese guitar is a 12 strings guitar, so it's natural that it sounds similar to other 12 strings guitars.

I don't know how other 12 strings guitars are played (I don't play any instrument, only door bells
), but in the Portuguese guitar only one of each string pair is played by the musician, the second string vibrates because of the vibration of the main string.

I remember listening to that music on the radio, but I wasn't expecting to listen it again more than 30 years latter.

In the world before Monkey Primal chaos reigned,
Heaven sought order, but the Phoenix can fly only when its feathers are grown.
The four worlds formed again and yet again,
As endless aeons wheeled and passed.
Time and the pure essences of Heaven,
The moistures of the Earth,
And the powers of the Sun and the Moon
All worked upon a certain rock - old as Creation,
And it became magically fertile.
That first egg was named Thought,
Tathagata Buddha, the Father Buddha, Said
'With our thoughts we make the world'
Elemental forces caused the egg to hatch,
from it then came a Stone Monkey.
The nature of Monkey was irrepressable!

Monkeeeeeeee!!!

That is all ...

That was a flashback and a half!!!

Monkey got me interested in martial arts even before Bruce Lee.

A true legend.

RIVEN, the sequel to MYST......

Equal parts compelling, frustrating, intriguing and addicting.....mind-teasing, puzzling, and ----

--- satisfying as well --- when you tease out the logic, and solve the challenges....logic AND keen observation and memory.

THIS is the opening. This is all you know, going in...to a computer game world unlike any other. No real jeopardy, no real time limits, no "fancy" keyboard finger-tapping required.

Worlds that only exist magically, because they are written and "linking books" that allow you to travel between the worlds........navigate amongst them, unravel the clues, find "Ghen" and capture him....

More than a decade, now, since I last entered this game....late Clinton era (happier times...)......

Found this Marvelous Montage of stunning "Light Art Photography" images (while looking around for another thread, for examples of 'camera shake' being mistaken for "UFOs").
