Only thing I can say is: remember him in the best way possible: accept all the good and bad things that had happened while he was there-they made you who you are.

Write down everything you can remember so you can keep it as the years go on and share them with his grandchildren be they yours or your sisters.

Make sure he is known.

If there is anything that can be done: speak it.

So very sorry to hear of your loss today. I lost my pops five years ago this summer. Nothing can ever replace the love of your dad. Remember him well.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time.

I was a freshman in college when my dad died on December 17th at around 11 p.m. After taking a shower, he got into bed and went to "sleep." I tried CPR unsuccessfully, but I suppose it was too late (and it was his "time'). I will say he looked quite at peace with no signs of pain, and no apparent proceeding illness.

May peace be with you and yours.

sorry to hear about it schrodinger

he will be with you all the time the way he has been with you your entire life
as you said "carbon copy" - so he is in your gene.s, your heart, your soul – everywhere were you are

i can feel the toughness of the situation for you
and maybe you have the idea the pain won.t go away - which is probably true - but it gets easier in a couple of months

just know that we are all here for you

sending big hugs down to you

If only we were half as eloquent as he.

My deepest condolences S-Dog.

We will remain forever grateful to a man we never met because he helped to shape you - our friend - into the dynamic soul that you are - one who has harnessed the power of pixels to move hearts and minds and whose humanity, warmth and spirit reaches beyond the cold computer screen to make a real difference in this world.

It is done ...
There was a beautiful ceremony with people ...
After there was coffee and drinks that quickly became intolerable ...
So I left and went back to say goodbye by myself ...
I am returning home in two days ...
With him always by my side ...
And I will return here on ATS to and with my friends soon after that ...
And I will attempt to thank everyone properly for all your kindness ...
And I will try to convey how much it meant to me ...
Love ...
sd

It was ... but I think it's time to start moving on now ... so I took it down as a tiny symbolic act ...

I'm at the airport waiting to board the plane home ...
The last two weeks have been somewhat draining, so I'm looking forward to familiar surroundings and some rest ...
I'm also anticipating the reality to hit me soon, for it was blocked to a significant degree to shield those around me and to be able to do what needed to be done ... but I feel it emerging in me, and I will not resist it any longer, it needs to be exorcised so I can move on rather than any further attempt to repress it.

Worry not though, soon enough I'll be back to my old self, bad jokes and all.

Love ...

I totally understand that.

One has to sort of soldier through events such as these when they happen and it's only in the exhale afterward that you can begin to truly experience it, come to grips with the reality of it and attempt to find meaning and a way to move forward.

We're here.

I hope that you have had a safe flight (I imagine that you are still in the air right now) and that you are well.

Take care S-Dog; looking forward as always...
