Iran isn't a 'peasant' country. The States, and Israel would be well advised to stay out. There are a few links on the net, but it is possible to discover Iran has probably the most advanced biological warfare programs in the world. They've got one of the largest standing armys in the world as well...

No doubt besides being armed by not only the Russians, but also the Chinese, all the SCO/NAM countries have defense treaties. Which means an attack on Iran is an attack on a lot of others........

Also, something many people don't know is back in I believe February 10, of 2007, Putin gave an infamous speech. The speech was quite the disclosure. He assured the world that between the US, and USSR being the largest arms dealers in the world that any country who wanted ANY weapon had bought it back in the 80's, and 90's..................Which could also be taken as Iran has already got Nukes, and had them for a very long time.

Iran may have one of the largest standing armies in the world, but it also had one of the largest standing armies in the world when they struggled against Iraq.

They couldn't do anything with the Iraqi army, and Iranians were slaughtered by the bucket loads.

This is the same Iraqi Army that we went through like crap through a goose.

Twice.

Numbers mean absolutely NOTHING.

Not when it comes to fighting.

Consider Rourke's Drift, Agincourt, Arbela, on and on, and on.

Every single meeting between Persians and Westerners has ever resulted in a slaughter of Persians.

Some things never change.

I donno what to say.... oh wait. Russia stomped all over the US/Israeli SpecOp led Georgian forces. The Russian Spetnaz ran through the Gem of Western Imperialism like no tomorrow.

I remember seeing Rupert Murdock live on Fox News saying how Russia had bit off more than it could chew..... Of course, that was in the morning hours of 08-08-08. By afternoon he had no further comments. Russia was a steam roller.

I'm not familiar with any direct Iran vs. "Western World" conflicts; however considering it's not going to be that in the fight; why mention it? It will be Iran, Russia, China, Venezuela, Cuba, CA-4, ALBA, and many more.

What is coming is not simply sit at home watching the MSM show how 'good' the US, and Israel are, but what it will be is much more personal.

Did you know that Russia already has a fleet in the Caribbean Sea? Did you know that Venezuela, and Cuba are staging Russian Bombers, and personel? Did You know that Russia has sold the most state of the art equipment to Venezuela complete with personel to operate it?

Iran is Russia's 7th largest trading partner. Do you really think all the countries The US, and Israel scr*wed over are just going to sit back, and wait their turn? If you do, then I'd get a reality check.

I don't think anyone forgets that the US is the biggest baddest baddass on the block.

But can the US really afford to alienate even more people? In her quest to be a friend to Israel and secure supplies of oil she has managed to become tolerated instead of loved as she once was.

The US and her people would be wise not to underestimate Iran. It takes more to winning than just blowing everything up - Just look at Iraq.

See, that's where tomahawk cruise missiles come in handy. They have a range of 2,500km. Now, do you know of any shoreline defenses that Iran has that have a range anywhere close to that?

Didn't think so.

How is Iran's ASW capability?
The US Navy an Air Force will decimate Iran with minimal losses. That is a fact.

Theoretically USN destroyers and submarines could sit off the coast of Israel and launch tomahawks at Iran.
Or in the Arabian Sea.
Theoretically the closest they would need to get is the entrance to the Gulf of Oman.
In fact they could even hit Iran from the Red Sea.

Carriers could sit in the Arabian Sea and off the western coast of Oman, with mid-air refueling over Oman and the Gulf of Oman and Arabian Sea.
US air bases in the immediate region could and would support such an operation.

B2 bombers operating out of Diego Garcia could pretty much hit any target in Iran and return to Diego Garcia without refueling.
