This is another step by the US in it's effort to distance itself from Pakistan. In 2008 there was this nuclear deal with India and now in 2009 we have the defence deal

India plans to buy fighters for its defence and I still think it will buy the Russian Mig 35, even though US companies are interested in one of the biggest deals in defence.

It would definitely be a slap in the face to US if this defence deal is not signed, as the article says.

It is a shame however, they don't sign the agreement to reduce Carbon Emission, or at least make commitment of such...

This is a necessary step in the war against Afghanistan, which will turn on Pakistan.

Pakistan should be screaming for Russian and Chinese support - I think that it is coming.

Things are looking bleak - if Iran falls to the US - then China may have no option but a military one it seems.

Developing countries like India, China and Brazil are not yet ready for the new carbon standards. Technological capability is not the main issue, it is that their large populations make it impossible for them to meet the new standards, as a result of which they are not signing the new emmision standards.
