Welcome, Jesse. I am not, nor have I ever been an Okie Nor am I now, or ever been a member of the Communist Party.
But I moved to California in 1976, moving there from Ohio and I was called an Okie on numerous occasions. It was not an edearing name to be called. It
recalled the 1930's, when people from the midwest moved to California, looking for a better life and the locals didn't want these "Okies"
around.
Anyway, I love that song by Merle Haggard, "I'm Proud to be an Okie from Muskogee". It's catchy, and fun to sing along with when you're drunk
with a bunch of Okies.
My bad, I spelled your name wrong, but corrected it.That was my edit.
