While I am as distrustful of big pharma(used to work for one) what they did was a "blanket patent".

They, the pharmaceutical companies, look at what might happen, and cover all porential cases that might emerge.

Standard practice.

I dealt with hundreds of target compounds that all had patents, but they were useless. At least, useless for what we were testing for.

And at what point have our duly elected public servants debated the actual statistics? Preemptive immunity is all fine and well, but the real power is with the czar who can declare a state of emergency without due process.

A meteor strike or solar flare is one thing.... this 'pandemic' of theirs seems to be something entirely different.

Swine-dled?

The patents are worth noting, I suppose, but do seem somewhat broad and routine.

Now if they had filed a patent for the specific strain of H1N1 featured in the current pandemic, on the other hand, Katy bar the door!

But people, they look ahead and want to insure an Income by taking a Patent on an Vaccine rather than Warn people of an possible threat they 'think' pretty much will come ???

You realy NEED to get the full picture, this Swine Flu is not the full story ..
