Even if this 'had' been a rave... What's the big deal?

I wish the police would sort their god damn act out and catch the real bastards who ruin society as opposed to picking on young people who wanna free their minds, socialise and enjoy quality music.

My thoughts exactly. This is completely rediculous.

Hating the cops - or the police isn't the answer - sorry to contradict - I was involved in a very nasty domestic assault a few weeks ago - and boy I was glad when our local bobby's turned up.

On the whole they (at least in the UK) are people doing a job in the face of much adversity - tabloid journalism for one.

For me its the nature things are reported upon and the light some police feel they have to respond to. There are good and bad police (cops to you). In this case I think some senior policeman responded in an inappropriate way.

That being said the newspaper did little to ask his/her opinion or for an explanation - noticeable in the lack of comment or non comment in the paper . That smacks of sensationalism - something this paper is known for .

If I were him I'd sue for the time & money he put out for the event

The council/police had to real cause to shut if down

Unless of course we are only being told a part of the story which is possible.

Ever see the famous video of the cops busting a utah rave? I know this is a little different because it seems this guy may have been trying to have a bday and these utah folks were actually having a raid. Although who has a bday party BBQ in a field? LOL

Here is the video

Here is another one with interviews from security of the rave

It's really sad how we can't just get together and have a party with electronic music. Yeah there are some folks who do some illegal substances at raves but I see the same stuff happening at hip-hop, top 40 type clubs too. One thing is for sure, there is less violence at en electronic music even then probably any other dance party. Well of course unless the cops come.

I don't exactly hate police, hates a strong word and I shouldn't have used it. I just dislike the actions of SOME corrupt officers, whose corruption I have witnessed many times throughout my short life (26 years).

This my friend will never happen until they realise that it is them who are the bastards who ruin society.

They're blind to the fact because they live in a dillusional fantasy. They believe they are the "GOOD GUYS (w/out fault) fighting the cimes and injustices of mankind, when all the while they are just as bad...if not worse than those they seek to condemn.

Edit to ADD: didn't realise miracle rock already covered this topic. Must finish reading entire before I post.

Yeah I never understood the whole anti rave thing that cops do. A rave is no diff than any other musical event. I am a hip hop fan (underground real hip hop, not the garbage on TV) and at hip hop shows there is just as much people using drugs (ex and pot are HUGE in the hip hop community).

I'm sure the same stuff happens at rock shows too and no one targets them.

Let the young people party and have fun!

Peace!

Looks like it also had more to do with parties which had happened in the past...

She said local residents were concerned due to previous raves having reportedly taken place in the area with loud music and traffic disruption into the early hours.

Still though.. helicopters and swat teams?

Not that im paranoid or anything, Iv got nothing to hide it just pi**'s me off big time that I can't even have a private conversation with my GF.

I have been a Dj ( wow hence the name..lol) for well over 15 years. I have spun at raves as well as mainstream clubs. I can tell you that I have never seen or heard of the type of crap that happens at mainstream clubs, happening at a "rave". Rave indicates an "underground" party where people don't know until damn near the last minute where it will be. No liceneses,no permits, none of that crap. However the police, in thier "war on drugs" have labeled these get togethers illegal because drugs MAY BE present. Drugs are everywhere. While I have indulged in the occasional party favor the fact remains that it is the type of person that comes to a "rave" or even a real electronic music club. Generally I have found it is the person that is not familiar with how things happen or people are that truly are into the electronic lifestyle. They look at the 17 year-old girl rolling her eyes while blowing up and think this is an easy way to meet women. This is a fallacy. But it is one the cops( by cops I mean the administrative aspect of the police force , not the boots on the ground) have focused on because it fits into thier propaganda of drug-use and monetary compensation. It is disheartening because virtually anyone you meet that is REALLY into electronic music , that enjoys it, and listens to it as one would as a classical music connessieur (sp?) would generally make sure that anyone out of line is either given care( medically or even just talked to ) or is removed and punished. We don't want those types of people to ruin it. We handle our own. It is only when the, and I hate to call people out, frat kids or sorrey girls come in that crap happens. But that is what they cops focus on. As for facebook, I'm sorry if anyone in the scene hasn't realized that these things are being monitored by now then.......

A good idea may be to advertise false raves...

If the cops do end up going to these empty rave sites, they'll have nobody to blame but themselves.

or can you get done for digitally wasting police time?

As for the UK public out cry. If it doesn't involve Jade Goody or Talentless Britain tv shows or dare i say Big fecking brother, then nobody is arsed any more.

This island is largely populated by brain dead morons and the unthinking.
