The tv stated 26 Aust' Air marshal's have been 'cleared' to carry
firearms on Oz-U.S. flights. Random flights at this stage, but up to
4-6 marshal's per flight. That's not many flights???

The first step in the (International) Patriot Act - start with the allies, force it on the enemies. Nice find.

Hrm, the spin I got on it was that it was kinda pushed by the Aus govt. We already have domestic sky marshalls and to Singapore (I thought also to more SE Asian nations, but maybe not yet). The marshalls would largely be on Qantas flights, protecting the Flag Carrier like.

EDIT: also it doesn't seem to be as much a 'random' choice of flights as choosing flights that are considered a possible threat.
