The entire Irony of the situation is this:

Many "Latinos" are White/Indian mixes .. some are actually more "white" than "Indian (which is actually Asian) ..

The women who makes this statement IS white, by all biological standards, she has White features.. descended from Spanish colonist..

Some people I find stick to titles as if it makes them more important or "special" .. like Spanish descendants declaring themselves their own race, when in actuality they are not, and are only an ethnicity.. Just my input on this bigoted moron.

You are right of course.

I look more white than Indian, if I work outside a lot I look a bit
like a mexican with reddish brown hair.

The Aztlan and La Raza crap is going to stir up a # storm and
they are not going to be able to put the genie back in the bottle
until long after a lot of ppl on both sides get hurt and likely killed.

The current administration is in power mainly because of the RACE card. President Obama got in power not only because he promised "change", which he never explained on any interviews to his fans, but a lot of Americans also voted for him ONLY because he is black. So it is not a surprise to find that Sotomayor is being considered not only because she backs the Socialist dictatorship taking place, but because she is LATINA.

BTW, I am also a LATINO-AMERICAN, and I can tell you many latinos do not like this woman at all.

I'd have voted for a popped whoopi cushion before I voted for anyone that supported Bush 95% of the time over his nightmarish 8 years.

(Note to Conservatives... that was McCain.)

Note to you:

The national debt has suddenly increased to triple what it was with that "nightmarish 8 year w/ 2 wars going on".......

Also.

I wouldn't have voted for anyone in the recent election, but I made sure one was in that wasn't Obama......

Note to you... Bush gave 7 tax cuts to the top 2% exploding the debt, continued Reagan's dream of deregulation, oversight of large corporate interest was gone and Wall street screwed main street worse than at any time in history.

So trying to de-fib paddle the economy back to life increased the debt meaning it's all OBAMA'S fault right?

You people make it so difficult to take you seriously.

Just so we're clear, this is about what the CNN reporter said. Not so much Sotomayor, although I think what Soto said was racist.

Since you want to be 'clear'. It is important to point out that that statement WAS NOT made by CNN Reporter as you so claim. It was part of a "live" segment interviewing outside perspectives. (The woman is from Washington Post)

The reporter definitely says, "a Latina woman can make better decisions than any white man".

I see NO clarification or distinction in OP that the statement WAS NOT made by a CNN reporter.

In a subsequent post you said the above quote. (bold of word reporter by me) Given title of thread, seems misleading.

I stated my race and gender to make the point that as such, I DO NOT find the comment offensive.

Did I miss something?

ON TOPIC:

Sotomayer seems well on her way towards confirmation, so this is all rather moot. The Washington Times lady was stating her OPINION. (however misguided in your opinion) which she is entitled to,

Do you simply enjoy beating a dead horse or are you just fanning the flames of bigotry?

Yep it's okay to blast any white male and any fat person.

Blacks, Latinos and all people of "ethnic origin" are currently off limits.

We are all humans (most of us anyway) and "they" are pitting us against each other. It's a game designed to keep us distracted and from being united.

"United we stand divided we fall"

Read, "The Art of War" by Sun Tzu. The easiest way to conquer a people is to make them fight amoung themselves.

Now the question you all should be asking is who "they" are.

The rabbit hole goes really deep on this one.

People need to put aside their differences and unit as one species, man.

We like it or not are all inner connected like a mobile above a baby's bed. You barely touch one piece and the whole thing moves. We are all connected and what affects one of us affects all of us.

As soon as humanity wakes the muck up and realizes this we can all work towards becoming a free people and ridding our planet of the smucks that are currently ruling us.

Excellent response, it's comforting to know there is at least one other human being out there that can see what in sam hell is going on.

Starred

We are in the mess we are in because the large corporations, including the banks were not regulated.

Regulating seems to be a dirty word because those in power have manipulated the "common working man" into believing this bullpoop.

The average person has no idea how much the large corporations are screwing them out of house and home.

If the big boys aren't regulated they are going to walk off with your house, my house and the next person on this blog's house but hey most people are too damn stupid to see they are being manipulated and robbed.

Wanna know why? Most Americans are too busy watching dancing with the stars and reading fluff stuff.

The Wealth Distribution
In the United States, wealth is highly concentrated in a relatively few hands. As of 2004, the top 1% of households (the upper class) owned 34.3% of all privately held wealth, and the next 19% (the managerial, professional, and small business stratum) had 50.3%, which means that just 20% of the people owned a remarkable 85%, leaving only 15% of the wealth for the bottom 80% (wage and salary workers). In terms of financial wealth (total net worth minus the value of one's home), the top 1% of households had an even greater share: 42.2%. Table 1 and Figure 1 present further details drawn from the careful work of economist Edward N. Wolff at New York University (2007).

Thats because you have white guilt and you beleive bring purposely obtuse makes you a more worldly individual. All it really does is set you up to become a 2nd class citizen. What she said was clearly racist by the very definition.

I see NO clarification or distinction in OP that the statement WAS NOT made by a CNN reporter.

What does it matter? Shes a WapPo reporter being interviewed on CNN. Its not as if the story changes with those extra details.

Do you simply enjoy beating a dead horse or are you just fanning the flames of bigotry?

You're the one who is flippantly dismissing blatantly racist diatribe from a major news network. How in the world do you see bringing attention to bigotry as a bigoted act?

ofhumandescent, you are truly wise in your comments. It is the division. It is the very ideology of division... stupid, mammalian, tribal, hierarchical politics, that in its vast insecurity and true ignorance (literally ignoring that outside of its infinitessimal reality tunnel) that causes strife in this world. People glorify their outer images, which many times are contrary to their inner realities, and they do it to the extent that the inner is veiled in many sticky, hard-to-remove layers.
We live in a world of problem, then reaction, then solution, of thesis, antithesis, then synthesis. If the problem is properly identified, there is a vastly better chance that the reaction will be a proper spiritual inverse. If the reaction is the proper spiritual inverse of the problem, a glorious solution is found. However, in a world falsely believing in the deceitful, infinitely near-sighted, and selfish displayed image, there is fear. There is fear, because people are afraid of judgment and condemanation that would result if the true inner self is displayed in contrast to the desperate image. This creates an insecurity of mammoth proportion, of course leading to a pride of mammoth proportions. Pride and insecurity go hand in hand, just as security and humility dance together. The pride leads to vanity, an attraction to one's self. However, the self at this point is one of no true perspective. This attraction to the nonbeing self becomes a total love of, or connection to, the false self, the self that was merely a hodgepodge of characteristics used to respond in a world of infinite false projections, of many foolish judgments. The narcissism turns to lust, a total belief that the destructive instincts one has developed are indeed the true self. The lust is a degenerative, destructive force, and when this entire sequence is in play in the world, as it very much is, the world degenerates.
The only way to break out of the image sequence, is to begin by not judging others, because you judge others to the very extent that you judge yourself (projections everywhere). When judging, projecting, you place an undesirable aspect of your shadow onto another. The only way to remove the destructive aspects of the shadow is to cease the constant projection. Then, you will not have faith in image or icon. You will not fear the image, because you know it is a lie. You will be secure in the absence of fear, leading to humility. Your humility will give you a universal perspective, a view of all is one rather than the false one is all. The universal perspective reveals the vast interconnection of everything, creating love for others. The empathic connection with all validates the initial leap of faith in ceasing the judgment.

Answer:Most Americans are too busy watching dancing with the stars and reading fluff stuff.

Question(s): Why are most kids stupid?
Why are most adults stupid?
Why do people allow the government to take their liberties?
Why do people allow the government to tax them so much?
Why are US reps/senators allowed to live a life of relative luxury?
....you could probably ask anything along those lines and part of the answer would be the fluff/non-important crap in our lives

I'm not only saying we're technological superiour (Europeans alone got us to the moon), but culturally, mentally, and in most cases physically superiour. So your going to have to get more stringent controls before you bust anymore myths. Because Myth, Not Busted PS. Heavens no. I'm English

Seriously? OK. First off, Europeans did NOT get to the moon, Americans did. Using technology that originated in Japan during WW2. They were the first to make a rocket propulsion system.

Physically? No. Notice how it's commonly a black man who wins races in the Olympics? What race dominates the sports scene?

Mentally? No, Who dominates the technological industry? Where do your TV's, stereos, cars, video games etc come from? Japan, Korea?

It's not about a single race being on top or on bottom in ANY area. Each MAN AS AN INDIVIDUAL has achieved breakthroughs in our history.

And as far as culturally, WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU?!?!?! BTW, you are English? You think that you are so great? Tell me why not only have lost every piece of land you have conquered, (with the exception of northern Ireland, which you can't even get under control).AND not to mention, the fact that when you left those countries, you left them in complete turmoil, (e.g. India/Pakistan, Israel/Palestine, Iraq/Kurdistan) You sent all your inmates to Australia, who seems to have more freedoms and less problems politically than you do.

Now, let me make this clear; Nothing against the people of England, but your government is no better than any other puppet government in the world. And no YOU ARE SUPERIOR TO NO ONE!!!!

In my opinion, this diminishes your thread.

A person (NOT affiliated) with CNN was interviewed to offer her opinion. It was "live" and un-scripted therefore the network DID NOT put words in her mouth.

Dilutes you whole hidden-agenda claim IMO.

I suspect this quote in your OP:

This is one of the most clear cut examples of what equality and diversity really mean in America now. It means getting back at white men for actions perpetrated hundreds of years ago.

Is the underlying root cause of your angst.

Unfortunately in this society we live in, racism is a word conjured up by the minorities to use against white people.

When a white person says anything about a minority it is racism and a hate crime

When a minority says anything about white people it is accepted.

This is how hypocritical and twisted the world has become and is why we will never see equality as no matter how much they claim to want equality they STILL want to be treated different differently

Oh and the Lil Wayne and rapper thing, just so you know a lot of blacks find him and his music REPULSIVE! (if you even consider that garbage noise music) All those rappers are doing is enforcing negative stereotypes. Its mostly teenage suburban white kids who want to be gangsters that support that music (lol, its true though).

LMAO! If it's so true!!!

I got to say though, I like to listen to the club music though, Ice Cream Paint Job, it's a pointless song but hey, it's got a good rhythm to it!

This simply is not true. The US Apollo program was lead by a man named Werner von Braun. He worked on the V2 missile program during WW2 and the pulse jet V1 program before that. Under project paper clip he and his co-workers were transfered to the US to continue their work. What Japanese missile projects are you reffering to? The Saturn V rocket which took man to the moon was based on the V2 rocket that was used against London on many occasion during WW2.

Ok to assume everyone is equal is just plain dumb. People should created equally as far as the law and should all be treated with respect. Human nature though is against equality. I mean look around You You have rich people and poor people. You have some people that have a burning desire to get ahead and will work 18 hours a day to get a promotion while You have some people that refuse to get off their asses and get a job. You have people in good health and people with poor health. You have some people that are smart and You have some people that are dumb.

Some races are born with different traits and guess what that can't even be disputed because its the facts. Now the races are different but to say look whites are smarter than blacks is just plain ignorant. Whos to say if blacks were not raised in different envoronments that they could be smarter than whites....

My whole point people should stop treating people in collectivists mind sets and start treating people as individuals. I treat everyone I work with in the same respect that I expect to be treated. Even though those people do something to loose my respect I just ignore them and pay them no mind..

I work on a barge in the gulf of mexico and its a real small community of 65 or so men. We have blacks, white, asians, & hispanics. The funny thing is We all make a good income and You don't see any racial tension what so ever because their is no class envy. Every one on this barge gets a long and guess what they even have inter racial friendships out here ( GASP!!!).

The funny thing is one day they had this ghetto guy that came out here and he pulled a knife on another guy. This guy tried to get the people of his race to side with him and the didn't want anything to do with him. He even approached the captain and the captain cursed him out. I have never seen the captain ever curse anyone out before and He was one of the most happy go lucky guys I know. I enjoyed watching the soap opera play out and the best part about it was the guy that couldn't work as a team player was on the first boat smoking.

uhh when did I say anyone is smarter than anyone?

You must have misread my post. I am extremely anti racist..

Why would I say whites are smarter? There is smart and dumb people of every race.

NO ONE is better than me because of race..

Why'd you mention that interracial thing? My wife and I are a interracial couple ourselves. I have no problem if people from 2 races are friends or a couple.

My post you're replying to I was angry at that guy because he was suggesting my wife and children and I arent equal because of our skin. I take HUGE offense to that. WE ARE EQUAL! I'm half black but my skins white so most people think I'm a white guy, but I wont tolerate people insulting my beautiful wife and daughter, who are pretty dark skinned. NO ONE insults my family. The reason I think he was insulting them was because I mentioned them in a post and he responded by saying "where do you get this idea everyones equal". Obviously he was saying we arent equal. He was specifically refering to race. I will defend my wife and children, nothing wrong with that.

No offense but please read whole threads before responding. You took what I said out of context...

By saying everyones equal I meant no skin color is better than any other skin color. No race is superior to another. We are all equal in that sense. Of course I know the rich and poor arent equal..etc, etc, I know many successful black people, and many successful white people and successful people of other races. But there is also a lot of total losers in all these races too.

I do agree with your post though

Anyways this is my last post here, I'm SO tired of this thread.

Peace!
