Free Microsoft Office Web Apps to Take on Google

Posted by Shayla on July 13, 2009 at 11:27 AM | Filed under Microsoft

Microsoft has formerly announced Microsoft Office 2010, including Web-based versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote...available for free.

At its Worldwide Partner Conference in New Orleans today, Microsoft formally announced Microsoft Office 2010, along with 2010 versions of Sharepoint server, Visio, and Project. But perhaps the biggest news of the Office 2010 announcement is that the Redmond software giant plans to go head-to-head with Google in offering lightweight, browser-based versions of its mainstream productivity applications that can be used from anywhere a user can get Web access—and for Windows Live users, they'll be available for free.

Not linked to Microsoft since it looks like a promo ... so here's a respected reporting site...

With all the governmental corruption postings slimeing into posts...

The SHTF news ... hitting ATS...

The stories and videos of little green men landing on your neighbors lawn...

Put all unconventional conventional conspiracy theories on hold, because life is going on, in some areas...

Everyone knows that Google is a conspiracy of monumental proportions...

Of course, Microsoft is a global conspiracy...

Who ever thought that a software company would be competing against a web search engine?

Microsoft was once, the one that sucked the most. Sucking up the best talent from software firms.

Now, we have Google sucking even more than Microsoft ever did; Sucking in technical talent that is...

Microsoft is so frightened that they are releasing their newest incarnation of office productivity software, Office 2010, in a lite weight web version free for users of Windows LIVE.

Cost = Free (Could never have happened under New Money, Bill Gates)

They must have been hit pretty hard by Googles free web applications...

Microsoft has always conspired to loot the public with overblown Office apps. that people were led to believe they needed.

Google has always conspired to invade browsers with their cookies attempting to track people's searches and deliver ad's.

Now the two global, evil empires, duke it out while we sit back and watch the fireworks.

I'm interested in how many people use the other online version(s) of applications and what they think of them.

(Move this if it's in the wrong area, delete if it's altogether out of line.)

Edit For Bad Linking; corrected.
