windows movie maker error message , need help

i am getting this message every time i try to import a video into my windows movie maker program...






these files will play in the windows media player but not in the movie maker program.

i have a few different video on my desktop and some files i did import into the movie maker program about a week ago and now those same files will not import.

anyone got a clue about what i need to do to fix this problem ?

Try rebooting your machine and renaming the files.

i already tried rebooting, and i just tried the rename trick but , nope it didn't work.

i don't think it can be a codec either because i had this file in the wmm program about a week ago and now it won't import all of a sudden.

At this point the only two suggestions I can make is run your antivirus with updated definitions and or convert your files to the wmv format.

Try making a new project and then try to import those files your having trouble with.

i have run my antivirus (2 different programs) and nothing found.

i also tried making a new project, still didn't work

you might be on to something with the convert idea.

i will try that and thanks for the link, that site looks good

awesome easynow.... and sorry about the late edit on the previous post there is another link to all the latest codecs there.
You can also do basic file joining in FF as well.
