I know plenty of atheists who use 'Jesus' and 'Christ' as general-purpose swear words. I've never heard anyone use 'Muhammad' or 'Buddha' in a similar way

Why do we use procreation as a curse word? Yelling out the F bomb seems pretty irrational also. Sex is something that is pretty amazing and something most people look forward to. But it gets the bad rap of being the holiest of holies when it comes to cusses, the grand poobah, the mack daddy of them all.

Words, in themselves, are neither good nor bad. It's the intent behind the words that is good or bad (or indifferent). For example, there's a big difference between "You've got to be F___ing kidding me?!?!?" and "F___ YOU!". One's intent is disbelief, the other is self explanitory.

IMHO, the Divine cares not for our words, but instead for our deeds and intentions. Our simple language is to the Divine as a baby's cooing or wailing is to a parent. We just tend to humanize everything, from the Divine to our pets. This is of course, ludicrous! The Divine is about as humanlike as we are about as amoebalike. Actually, that comparision isn't even close to accurate, but I can't think of anything simpler than an amoeba.

As a side note, I actually happen to know where the "H." comes from (I'm just a fountain of useless knowledge! LOL!) When Samuel Clemens, aka Mark Twain, was younger, he worked for a printer in Hannibal, MO. The printshop did pro bono work for the local church (which was very common during that time), and the local preacher gave the printer a rather lengthy sermon to print up. In an effort to save some $$$, the printer abreviated alot of the sermon, including reducing Jesus Christ to JC. The preacher was aghast when he read the proof, and instructed that the printer would use the lords FULL name! Well, the printer was PO'ed, and when he reprinted the sermon, he replaced the JC with Jesus H. Christ just to get back at the preacher for complaining about the free work.

What does the H. stand for? I don't know, but I have an idea:
Hedamnwellbetterbethesonofgod! (Joseph's idea) OK, it was my lame idea of a joke!

I unfortunately am born with a vast amount of creativity but a horrendously bad long term memory. I think it affects my attention span ADD or whatever they call it. They did not recognize it as that back in the 90's but then again I avoided the whole Ritalin thing.

I jump around in my interests a lot. One week i will be very big into guns the next it is cars the next music the next spirituality the next sports. It is hard for me to stick with one thing because I take interest in so many.

I feel bad for whoever does my social security records. I have had I estimate close to 50 different on the books jobs in my life so far.

So Sometimes I will forget about ATS. It sucks because ATS is great in that so many different topics are covered so my wacko brain can stay focused on the site longer.

There is hope on the horizon though! Apparently some researchers are working on a pill that improves photographic memory over long periods of time! I am excited to see if it gets rolling into production sometime in my life.

I think I am capable of amazing things if I could combine my ridiculous creativity with some hard core memory for mathematics and remembering names and dates.

I've noticed a lot of channels are starting to censor it if you say "Jesus Christ" in any reactionatory way.

No one else in my family seems to notice it either. I find something wrong with them being able to censor that, as pretty much only Christians get offended by it, and that's only because of how they interpret it.

In that case "cracker" should be censored as well because it's a racial slur, like the 'N' word. But it won't, because people are picking and choosing so it becomes rather biased.

I'm glad someone else notices this, it was driving me nuts on how annoying it is.

At first it was only happening late at night, after midnight. But now they're getting bolder since their doesn't seem to be any reaction, so it's more frequent.

I would have to say what brought me to ATS was the same thing Fox Mulder wanted, the Truth.

By analyzing evidence provided by both sides of the many topics, perhaps I can find answers to the many puzzling things that are happening that I can't chalk up as coincidence. Totally off topic of the OP so sorry for that heh.

I love that Patriot fight scene. Makes me want to own a combat hatchet! I followed a link to the Last of the Mohicans song. You know the fiddle main theme song. It is also at the end of the movie. I think it is really cool.

I'm guilty of using this expression when frustrated or upset, but I've never deemed it even remotely as any type of profanity. I've always considered it in the sense of "Lord help me" or "Lord give me strength."

I guess it all comes down to a matter of context.
