Cap and Trade is struggling in the Senate.
It is now time to DO SOMETHING.
America cannot afford to let this pass, sign the petition and contact your Senator. www.campaignforliberty.com...

When House leadership decided to rush through an over-1200 page Cap-and-Trade bill, your actions turned Cap-and-Trade from one of the administration's highest priorities into an issue that barely managed to pass the House of Representatives.

By a final vote of 219-212 (with eight Republicans switching sides to support the legislation), HR 2454 was sent to the Senate, where it could come up for debate and a vote at any time. But sources confirm Cap-and-Trade (which really should be called Tax-Kill-Jobs-and-Liberty-and-Trade), is in deep trouble in the Senate.

If you will keep the pressure up against this boondoggle, the Senate may not even vote on it before their August recess. (Click here to sign the petition to your senators insisting they cast every vote against Cap-and-Trade.)

With this legislation, the Obama administration is once again delivering its version of change -- change for the worse.

Change will come to your energy bills, as estimates place the eventual increase in annual fees in the thousands of dollars for the average American family.

Change will come to the way business is done, as even more of them decide to escape further regulation by moving overseas.

Change will come to individuals and families struggling during this latest economic crisis, as the additional costs of doing business force companies to lay off more workers while the price of heating and cooling a home skyrockets. The working poor and young families will be especially hard hit by this regressive, hidden tax hike.

Barack Obama has estimated the costs of this legislation to American taxpayers to be over 650 BILLION dollars over the next eight years, and that figure is no doubt just a fraction of the real cost.

Coming off the heels of a razor-thin vote in the House, and with outrage over spending increasing every day across the country, many Senators are already very nervous about supporting a bill creating so much controversy.

Thanks to your efforts, the administration and Senate leadership are facing an enormous hurdle. By continuing to keep up the pressure, we can stop the Cap-and-Tax threat and prevent the federal government from further crippling our economy and eroding our standard of living.

Click here to sign our online petition and urge your senators to stand up for their constituents by opposing this latest big government scheme.

And after you sign your petition, visit our Cap-and-Trade action page for information to call, write, and fax your Senator. Our action page also lists how your representative voted, and gives a sample letter to send him to either thank him for his opposition, or to express your disappointment and ask him to vote against similar legislation in the future.

With little time to take action, we very nearly defeated Cap-and-Trade in the House. Together, we can stop it in the Senate!

We are heading for some serious pain if this passes the Senate. It is not over, make your voice heard.
Sign the petition, write your Senator, email this to everyone, Facebook it, Digg it, Myspace, whatever you can do to get the word out that this is not a done deal and we can still make a difference.
Auditing the Fed may be a long shot but here we may have a chance, we must do something now.

So why isn't this getting more attention here on ATS? I would expect that this would be a major issue here, or are people still weeping for the dead celebrities?

Signed, starred and flagged.

I've been calling but I'm afraid my calls won't do much, as I live in Massachusetts. Senators Kennedy and Kerry are pretty much set in their votes, but I'll do what I can to help slay this job-eating dragon before it reaches the town.

I live in Georgia.
Red as red can be but it still didnt help us during the first bailout. Hopefully this time they will listen or they will have to raise the state poverty level for energy subsidizing so that half the state doesnt die of heatstroke.
As a country we are already making far less $ compared to ccost of living can you imagine what the outcome will be if this is passed? $50,000 a year will be the new poverty level for a family of 4.

Unfortunately both Senators and my Congressman are Democrats, which means they're enthusiastic about taxing me, spending my money, and ignore the opinions of the public.

I wrote them anyway. And added a second message to each against Nationalized anything, especially healthcare.

Do I think they'll listen? They sure ignored the public will on the bailouts or that 'stimulus' boondoggle.

Bumping for more support.
We still have a chance to stop cap and trade in the senate.
Come on, this is not a partisan issue this is an economic issue and no matter if you lean left or right you still have a pocketbook/wallet that will be empty if this is passed.

I signed it.

I won't get my hopes up though.

I hope others sign it too.

we need to stop this. I may literally lose my home, due to the expected increase in electricity alone. I just got this back from one of my local reps, Jason Chaffetz...

July 10, 2009

Dear Mr. _____,

I did not support the American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009, more commonly referred to as the "cap and trade" bill. Unfortunately, this bill passed the House of Representatives on June 26, 2009. The stated objectives of this bill are to create clean energy jobs, reduce global warming pollution, achieve energy independence, and transition to a clean energy economy.

For average Americans, the impacts of this bill will be dramatic. According to Peter Orszag, Director of the Office of Management and Budget, the average American can expect "persistently higher prices for.electricity and gasoline." This will be especially evident in Utah, where each person is estimated to be hit with $1,115.47 in new taxes on their electricity bill alone. That means the average Utah family's (3.08 people/household) annual electricity bill will increase by $3,435.65. That's nearly $290 per month on top of what they already pay for electricity. I do not believe this colossal tax increase on the American people is worth nine-hundredths of 1 degree.

The authors of this legislation cite global warming as the driving force behind the bill. I do not believe human activity drives the earth's warming and cooling cycles. The doomsday warming scenarios stem from a 2001 study performed by the United Nation's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). In this study, 245 potential scenarios were offered. The media and politicians all over the world have adopted the worst-case scenario as fact and have in turn imposed panic-stricken fears amongst Americans and the entire world.

Emma Brindal of Friends of the Earth said in December 2007, "A climate change response must have at its heart a redistribution of wealth and resources." This is similar to Senator Ben Cardin's (D-MD) explanation of cap-and-trade, "[cap and trade is] the most significant revenue-generating proposal of our time." Cap and tax is nothing more than a massive expansion of government that will punish business, expand entitlement programs, and raise taxes for 100% of American energy users. Leave it to the Congress to offer a non-solution to a problem that does not even exist.

Unfortunately, the democratically controlled House of Representative fast-tracked cap and tax through the legislative process and ignored all other viable alternatives. Instead of a massive top-down government mandate on to the economy, I support the American Energy and Innovation Act. This bill stands on three pillars: Innovation, Conservation, and Production. I support this bill and encourage you to learn more. These three pillars will:

w Promote innovation within the energy market through entrepreneurship while reducing financial, regulatory, and legal burdens.
w Provide incentives to reduce demand and increase domestic energy security by promoting greater conservation and efficiency.
w Encourage the production of more American energy from all available resources and technologies (expanding both onshore and offshore oil/natural gas drilling and encouraging the use and development of alternative energy sources)
To learn more about the American Energy Innovation Act, please visit my website at chaffetz.house.gov....

Sincerely,

Jason Chaffetz
Member of Congress

I cant affor that...and that is only on electricity....

Star and flag from me!

I've sent the petition site to everyone on my email list, along with this:

www.window.state.tx.us...

This page shows the impact Cap and Trade will have on Texans. No tax increases for Americans making less than $250K? How do you like him now?

In addition to signing the petition, everyone needs to learn how their Rep. and Sen. votes. Then notify those who voted for this boondoggle, they will not receive a vote for re-election. Oh...then follow through.

The only way to stop their madness is to stop re-electing them. We have the control of term limits, which is the solution.

Thanks for the link!
