Alec Baldwin interested in congressional run

Emmy Award winner Alec Baldwin is eyeing a post-acting career that could take him off a Hollywood soundstage into the halls of Congress.

Baldwin, who currently stars in the NBC comedy "30 Rock," told Playboy magazine that he is seriously considering running for Congress. But he acknowledged his opponents would have plenty of fodder to use against him.

Hollywood is jumping big time into politics now. And he will be joining the Democrats, is what I think.

What is it about actors and politics? What is it about acting that makes actors think they have even the remotest skill, upbringing or talent to enter politcs

The Democrats have yet to nominate an actor for President. or for Governor of a major state, for that matter. Rank and file Republicans have yet to line up at the voting booth to send an actor to the most powerful political positions in the largest state in the union. The perception is that the only actors who speak out on issues at length are Democrats.
