Encana natural gas lines are targeted in Northern B.C., page 1

CALGARY -- It's just a matter of time before someone gets hurt or killed by a serial pipeline bomber, says the mayor of Dawson Creek, B.C. Just three days after an EnCana wellhead was discovered ruptured near Pouce Coupe, eight km south of Dawson Creek, crews repairing it were alerted to another explosion at a 12-inch pipeline about one km away on Saturday about 2:30 a.m. Though the leak caused by the explosion, the sixth to strike the company, was stopped and no one was hurt, Mayor Mike Bernier said he is pleading with anyone with information to come forward before someone gets injured. "If the person continues in the direction they're going, it is a matter of time before someone gets hurt," he said. "They are affecting our community and the safety of innocent people and affecting our livelihood." The energy giant is also frustrated with the latest explosion, said EnCana spokesman Rhona Del-Frari. "We're frustrated -- whoever is doing this is exhibiting reckless and dangerous behaviour," she said. "It's a risk to the people who live in the community and our workers -- it has to stop." She said that though the hours, money and number of resources involved to repair the facilities hasn't been added up, any time it takes staff away from their work in producing natural gas is also frustrating and a safety issue. "Any time there are people separated from their daily work, they are at risk," Del-Frari said. Three bombings damaged EnCana pipelines in the area last October and a fourth explosion in January destroyed a metering shed. She said the
company has hired security experts, and staff go out and regularly check the facilities. "We have 150 wells in B.C. and hundreds if not thousands of kilometres of pipeline," she said. "You can't be everywhere." The company is offering a $500,000 reward.

The RCMP has labeled this domestic terrorism, personally I think it's another excuse to increase the size of Canada's police state.
