As for pacemakers the effects aren't meaningful according to the Space Weather site: www.solarstorms.org...

Airliners have more to worry about, especially since some routes travel over the poles to save time.

During a major solar flare, you can get a chest X-rays worth of radiation for free.

Also, a severe superstorm could theoretically fry our electric grid. Since we'd need a sufficient number of backup transformers to replace the melted ones and get up and running so that new transformers can be made, we'd be in a catch-22 situation. The result is a catastrophic global failure of the "system."

If someone with a pacemaker waltzed into a solar induced ground current, the internal wiring of the pacemaker itself would conduct the high energies and fry the pacemaker.

Chances of this happening are very very minscule.

Personally I do not believe the global warming b/s. nowt but a scam to get your cash. Yes the planet is getting warmer but if you check the history records regarding world temp you will see that we are recovering from a mini cooling due to volcanic activity in the eighteenth century, even with pollution we have not recovered to the pre 18th century temp. as for the sun it is due kick out a few flares that will temporary cook us ,best move is invest in a decent air con, stay indoors at midday and use the best total sun block, lots of salt and water also wear a hat and loose clothing ,simples lol
