And that's the pisser right there. I specifically took a job with a company that had offices in the UK so I could transfer and show my wife and kids where I grew up. As things are over there AND over here,I sometimes think we'd be better off living in a cave until all the craziness blew over.

Yeah, sorry 'bout that. Don't mean to repeat posts but I was answering someone from page 1 .

I lived in England for years. Really liked it. My dads family is from Scotland and moved (immigrated) to Montana years ago.

I went to school there and there was much more knife violence than in American schools. Forget tv violence in the US, I saw my first stabbing when I was a kid right near Hampstead Heath.
The UK should never, could never be like the US. But they would be smart to adopt some of our "cowboy" ways.

Its your "cowboy ways" we could do without thanks very much.

I work with kids from disadvantaged homes in London, these kid's are obsessed with everything being "Gangster" if they see a nice car drive by they're all "man that car is Gangster, brat brat" Now all the kids are doing this, white kids, black kids, a lot of these kids are from refugee families, so we have Somali kids and kids from eastern Europe. it's definitely a cultural thing. they live in communities where the local drug dealer drives the nicest car and they see no other role models in their communities.

Most days when i work with these kids Im breaking up fights, left right and center. They all want to be seen as the hard man. None of these kids are bad. Some are angry, but after you hear what they've put up with in their short lives, you can understand it. They're all kids and confused with life.

These kids have so much potential in them. they have so much enthusiasm, energy and ideas. It saddens me that when they go back to their communities its back to the gangster worship.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not advocating dusters/holstered guns and shootouts in saloons. It's not in your cultural DNA. But the PC crowd has taken over (as it's trying to do here) and that is making things worse for all.

It's easier for your MP's to pass sharia (sp) law over there than it is any type of law that would protect the families.

You've confused "cowboy" ways with "gangsta" ways. They aren't the same thing.

A "cowboy" will live and let live, as long as he isn't attacked. But if he is, he'll unleash hell. Best way I can describe it is that they will do anything in the world they can for you. If they are attacked, however, they'll do anything in the world they can TO you.

A "gangsta" - well, I've covered their attitude previously in this thread.

Those terms are "chavs" and "neds".

Never thought I'd be needing another English lesson at my age.

Type in chavs in google images, prepare to be disgusted hahaha

They are basically kids who wear clothes a certain way, talk a certain way, basically everything they do is stupid and repulsive haha, a lot of people in the uk hate them call them scum of the earth.

Chavs are only a certain type, compared to more normal people they are more likely to have fights or beat people up for fun, hang around and do nothing except curse at random people for fun, like my mother or your mother, but a lot of them are very weak looking and really are full of fear, thats why they hang in groups, usually when they get pregnant they may leave that way of life, but the attitude remains haha. Or more to the point they lack good social skills.

But there are many other types of gangster wannabes and more worryingly the more serious types who are more violent, stonger looking and to the point, no games, no playing around or fun, straight to the point stabbing or robbery.

All these different types can depend on what area they live in, slightly different culture in each area. From lowprofile to more extreme behaviours.

Now even with these kinds of people, I never generalise, there are always good people among the rest, in the middle of it all, simply growing up in that culture, only taking the apperance but not the way of life.

Chavs or Neds are the same thing.

Chav or Charver is a derogatory term applied to certain young people in the United Kingdom, in particular, England. It is equivalant of the Scottish term "Ned." Or the street term wasteman. ...

Response to the term has ranged from amusement to criticism that it is a new manifestation of classism.[4] One BBC TV documentary suggested that "chav" culture is an evolution of previous working-class youth subcultures associated with particular commercial clothing styles, such as mods, skinheads and casuals.[5] The term has been associated with juvenile delinquency, the ASBO Generation and yob culture.

Hope that clears it up or explains the names a little.

OK. I've now added another to a long list of things and people I want to # slap.

My oldest son had a phase where he and his friends walked around with their jeans halfway down their butts.

I spent the day walking around just like them.
Next time they came over, they were actually dressed like normal human beings.

Is the economy so bad over there now that they have no other recourse? Why aren't they going to school? College?
I know we have similar problems over here, and no solution in sight. Although Obama might offer them a position in his new civilian 'army'.

OMG lol, Teenagers go through phases, let them live, My neice went around with her jeans hanging down also, Althought we tuted and criticsed her for doing so. Being the teenager she is, she took no notice of our comments at all. Typical really.

As for going to college, further educaton. The busaries or grants they recieve are not even enough to get past every month with, Oh and I know you will say thenwhy dont they get a job. There are hardly any job vacancies nowadays, ad besides you hav 500 people chasing 1 job, plus it is pay related, 16 - 18 year olds are paid way less than those over 18. Alot expect thier parents to pay for thier keep.
