From spaceweather.com:

Many readers are writing to ask if this sunspot is going to produce a major solar storm today, July 7th. Such a storm was "predicted" by a set of crop circles in England, and the solar blogosphere has been abuzz with speculation. The answer is "no." A major storm is not in the offing. Sunspot 1024 is relatively large, but it does not have the kind of complex magnetic field that poses a threat for major eruptions. Crop circles, it turns out, are not a useful tool for forecasting solar activity.

just when we think this sun spot is finished, back it comes again!

More "b" class flares at the moment. Will it grow again?!!

Today, the sunspot is growing again. It now measures 125,000 km from end to end, almost as wide as the planet Jupiter

how bad can it get ? I found this interesting picture from NASA, showing a possible multiple-flares situation:

The size of the spot makes it a fine target for backyard solar telescopes. And it is worth watching. Sunspot 1024 is the first big sunspot of new Solar Cycle 24, and it is crackling with minor but photogenic B-class flares. By itself, this one active region won't bring an end to the deepest solar minimum in a century, but it does show that the sun's magnetic dynamo is still working--a fact some had begun to doubt. More sunspots are coming, so stay tuned.

Maybe you should have asked "how bad WILL it get?"

Because that's where we're headed.

Haha yeah, really.. But it was like this back in 2001... Hmm, did anything significant happen that year?

Heh..

It'll peak and look like this around 2012-2013.

Can someone please explain to me how these charts are read?

I would be very appreciative.

From Phage in the Sun Watch Thread

The electron flux readings are an indication of the number of solar particles trapped by the magnetosphere. What's happening now seems to be a return to "normal" levels after an increase which began on June 29. It seems to happen periodically and might have something to do with the so called "holes" in the magnetosphere, the connection of solar wind magnetic fields with those of Earth, allowing particles to enter and collect in regions of the magnetosphere where they otherwise could not.

After reading everyone's opions I have some statements:
Aliens could tap into the internet via satellites, our germs protect us in a biological warfare way from foreigners from other planets/dimensions,
we may be a zoo to the aliens, they make mistakes too- no one is
perfect except God. I watched the solar flare and thought I was crazy for watching the space weather site.
I saw something in April which has lead up to all this crop circle watching, and internet searching. I put my son on the bus at 6:30 am in April
and saw two white lights (I thought they were satelites close together),
while my dog was doing her potty break. I was looking south westerly
into the sky , the two lights moved in an upwards ark quickly and then they shut off like a light switch had been thrown. It was a cloud less sky.
All of this took place in 2-3 minutes. I though wow, so it is all real. What
is the big picture? What is going to happen? Why are thet here? Why
does the airforce not discuss this stuff ? Something is going on...
I am a normal reponsible adult who is considered normal-stable. I really
feel if all this were true, people can't handle this much reality. I hardly can.
The security comming back from Ireland a two weeks ago was incredulous.
They went through every last bag, patted people down, made everyone miss their connecting flight. I went horsebackriding over there, and they took my boots telling me they were going to clean them, which they didn't they were already clean, and they pronbably x-rayed them and sampled the soil. I don't know. I had to sleep in the JFK airport that night because I missed my flight by 3 hours. That is such a filthy airport, bathrooms were beyond unmentionably gross. I thought I'd get something just being there. Welcome back to America. I saw 9 ring forts in Ireland. 450 ringforts were built in the Burren alone. 4 to 5 thousand years ago. The same era as the pyramids, the wedge tombs were also bult at this time. Why Round? They are facinating. Photos can be researched on line.

hey guys!

Look at the solar wind NOW:

speed: 404.1 km/sec
density: 12.6 protons/cm3
