Are people taught to sacrifice their humanity when they become parents?

I am a much better grandparent than I was a parent. I was young, ambitious, and busy achieving to really share in my kid's lives.

Today, when my 2 yr old grandson screams when I drive up, runs out and grabs my hand, shouting "Papa! Papa", well, there are no words to express the love and joy that I feel at that moment.

Almost every working moment, I am thinking of him. Thank you, God, for this wonderful gift.
