WASHINGTON - We talk about sex. A lot.

But all too often we don't know exactly what we're talking about. What's considered getting to third base these days anyway?

And when it comes to philandering politicians, the line on what's considered sex is especially fuzzy.

President Bill Clinton said oral sex wasn't sex. South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford says in his latest revelation that he "crossed lines" with women other than his wife and Argentine mistress, but "didn't cross the sex line." He wouldn't say what that meant.

"Sex is a word and nobody is really in charge of that term," said Kinsey Institute scientist Erick Janssen. "In a way, our thinking of sex and definitions of sex is more complex than they were in the past."

I too have a hard time actually defining what a "sex act" is.
It brings to mind Pres. Clinton's remark, "that depends on what the definition of "IS" is.........."
Definitely, if it involves sexual reproductive organs it IS "sexual"

And with the www. having a large content of pornography and sexually explicit material; how does the internet play into the definition of "sex"?
Two people? Man and Machine? Solo?

Just Semantics? Perhaps......

I think it would be fair to say that sex is "stimulation of the reproductive organs", of course, that would leave breasts out, so who knows..

I guess we can take the puritanical approach. If it feels good on any level, it's bad.

Eh not so much, that'd mean that every 14 year old boy has sex at least 5 times a day with several different partners =)

Perhaps then sex is more mental than physical.

Or as once President Jimmy Carter confessed "Lust of the Flesh"

"coveting" what doesn't belong to us in a carnal sense.
