Isn't about time we spoke up?

Congress has the responsibility to ensure that decisions on federal environmental legislation and policy are based on accurate and complete scientific information. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has ignored repeated requests for information on toxic mercury pollution, clean air, and global warming from members of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, which is responsible for oversight on these and other critical public health issues. Urge EPA Administrator Michael Leavitt to release the requested information to allow Congress to fulfill its responsibilities to protect public health and to restore scientific integrity in federal policymaking.

"Congress to fulfill its responsibilities to protect public health and to restore scientific integrity in federal policymaking."

EW can you quote that mandate from anywhere in the constitution - cause I am unable to find it.

The Union of Concerned Scientists is an interesting group. It has 20 Nobel laureates, 12 holders of the National Medal of Science and other assorted big wigs in its ranks. It's not the first time it's called out the government on enviromental issues, check out this thread: Bush administration distorting science

It is a sad state of affairs when leaders of this nation are lead by delusion instead of fact. This is one way, regardless of who you vote for, this can have an impact on the system at hand. It does make me wonder how much pull the UCS would have had if Dean had made office.
